Exclamation Hand Brothers BTA Steer Kit from MSD

Unimoger was nice enough to send me a couple BTA steer kits from Hand Brothers for my Clod. I got a chance to install one kit on the front axle last night, and was anxious to try it out at the local Colorado comp today. But, it was cancelled due to bad weather. I did get a chance to drive it around on the stairs at the RCC shop. The extra clearance up front is really nice, and the beefy stainless steel tie rod is tucked up perfectly against the bottom of the Clod gearbox. Install was very easy, each kit includes detailed instructions. When I get a chance to install the rear kit, I'll shoot some pics of the process. My steering out front is silky smooth now, with zero slop that you get from standard rod ends on the tie rods. So far, I'm very impressed.

Check them out at Montana Scale Designs

I like the looks of that!! Makes it easy to get to the link screw also it looks. Do you think that it can be flipped around for in front of the axle steering?

It might, Ben would know for sure.

It's a very slick kit. A pair of 8711's are in the plans too.

No, I haven't ordered the servos yet. I just got a Castle BEC installed last night thanks to Kris. I made his links and he installed my BEC.

Jason lent me his 3 cell A123 pack too. I actually have a little steering and wheelspeed now.

Holy crap, Brad is upgrading servos, using high volt Lithium packs, switching to deans connectors, and using a bec. Did hell freeze over?

I'm liking that msd kit, if I could use my 1/4 scale servos it would be even better. I guess I just have to wait and upgrade to some 5955's or 8711's.

Nope, just tired of inferior steering, wheelspeed and power.

I wouldn't be able to do it without my sponsors either.

VVVVV

Im glad you like it lots if time was spent makeing shure it would fit properly with just about any knuckle combo and still allow more steering travel than what a CVD can offer. It should still clear it you move it closer to the axle by useing the other holes in the knuckles

As far as a 1/4 scale servo mount?? A proto mount was made and it works fine, but we didnt think the person runnin 1/4 scales to save money would buy the kit.

It shows that you guys put your time in on the design, everything fits nicely. I may try moving the SS tie rod back a hole on the knuckles too.

Yup, good thinking. If I'm going to buy the kit I'll upgrade to some 5995's or 8711's while I'm at it.

Right on Brad!!!! It pained me to watch footage of the Nats, and watch you have to back up to steer sometimes:-( Times they sure are a changing I'm taking a headlong dive into the superclass, just paid for mine today. After seeing Jim's mounts on several clods at our local comps, I knew they were a must have

The BTA kit is working great for me, especially since adding a BEC and jumping to a 3 cell A123 pack.

I believe they are the first generation Integy axle tubes. The newer ones have a little different look to them.

Who else sells these kits? Been looking around for a while. It doesn't seem like the usual places have these in stock, or am I over looking it?

Thanks. Yeah, last night I was checking out some other things on TCS, and saw this BTA kit. Looks pretty darn nice. Maybe one of my future crawlers will use this kit.
