| Motors and pinions-Which combo?
I've done a lot of reading, but haven't had any real world experience with RC crawlers so it's tough to compare choices in terms of performance. I started my build with 85t lathes with 9t pinions. on 6 cells. Seems way too slow and stalls bad on vertical climbs. Seems to need more wheel speed. Should I go to 55T motors with the 9t pinions or go to say 12t pinions and stay with the 85t motors What about batteries, 6 cell, 7, 8? Thanks for any advice. |

I'm currently running 70T (hand wound) with the stock 13t pinions and a 7 cell 3000mah pack, I have good wheel speed when needed, It seems to do what I need it to so far, thow I would still like to try the 9t pinions.

Thanks for the reply. Which direction do you think would help me? Less turn motor or higher tooth pinions? |

I'd go for a lower turn motor, something like a 55t-65t. For cells, go with as many as your ESC can handle. |

On my clod I run 65T Axioms with 8 Tooth pinions and my stall isn't as bad as it used to be.

I think switching to a 55T would give you the results you're looking for, and like 4link4eva says, use as many cells as your ESC will allow, more voltage = more wheel speed. In my experience 9 tooth pinions can work well with clods, good low end torque, enough wheel speed.
