Default newbie, 45t motor and 8t pinion, what else?

Hi,
i'm building my first crawler, a pimp cane, and i'm waiting the mailman for my 2 integy 45t, is a 8t pinion a good choice or do you suggest me bigger? Will i need another motor mount to fit it on the axle since it's not the 13t stock and there is no adjustement?
Thanks

I have two 45t motors on my clod with 9t pinions and they work well. You will need an adjustable motor mount if you want to use anything other than stock pinions. The motor mount that I fabricated works with the 9t pinion just fine but when I tried a 6t pinion I couldn't get it to work. I suggest buying a motor mount specifically designed to accomodate a 8t pinion or you might have to make mods.

The 45t motor with 8t pinion should be a good combo. Lots of people run 55t motors with 9t pinions, and I know one guy (Kamikaze - 5th in Super in the US) ran 35t's and 6t pinions with great results.

Should work well.
