Default My 2.2 Clod build

I'm building a 2.2 Clod now, have been planning it, but until the recent sales I've made, no real funds to do so. I've bought a set of JP's small C Axle tubes, and I'm working on obtaining some of the Mayhem engineering 0 offset rims. I've cut a "bodiless" chassis out of some thin Electrical grade fiberglass (I doubt it will hold up, I have some Delrin I will make the final version in if it breaks) to minimum dimensions, planning on running a GC-1 style front 4-link and BMVII style torsion rods out back, dampened of course. Tell me what you think.

I think it is a great idea. The idea of using a four link setup is great too, I have messed with the "stick" type chassis and they do not work well for me as the axle swing is terrible due to the pivot point being so high on the axles.

As for link setup, do you plan on mounting the links to the lower part of the axle tubes, I think that is what I will have to do as the motors create all kinds of clearance issues. The torsion rods may be a good idea too, where do you plan to mount them? I will be watching this!

Right now I am working on a SW3 based 2.2, I hope to yeild good results with this build.

The Mayhem 0 offset rims are bombproof, you will love them. I know I do. Big thanks to Mayhem.

The Lower links are going to go either on the top hole on the axle tubes. The torsion rods will probably slot through some sort of clamp that goes over the axle tube or something coming down from the axle brace. I am considering going back to a traditional TVP chassis with a body though. The Fiberglass is a bitch to work with. I might go back to a traditional 4-link since the Clod axle is a bit wide to work with.

You will like that setup. I just built one that is quite similar...

I'll need to see how the upper links mounts hold up. I have both the upper and shock mounted to the top hole on the C.

I changed around my plans for this build a lot, I'll be running a 4-link front and rear with a Visionary Fabrication chassis, since I thought a bodied crawler would roll better.
