Default Super Insanity build

Well after running my 2.2 BJ and watching the supers, I had to do it. Started my super build. My foundation is going to be the Super Hustler chassis from RCP. And thanks to RCP for the quickest shipping and customer service!
Of course the first thing I did was make some new links for her. Made from solid 6AL-4V titanium with male ends so no need for set screws here.
Already got the radio system, you can see she will be run by a DX6i Spektrum radio. Still not sure on the rest of the electronics but I do know she will be sporting dual MM's. Everything else is still in the planning stage. This is going to be a top to bottom build thread with a few how to's thrown in as well. So stick around and enjoy the build.

Oh and by the way, see if you can spot my theme for this bad mamma jamma..............

Anyway, the ex wife is here being my maid and cleaning my house (she owes me money!). Gotta make sure she doesnt steal anything and i got some drinkin to do.

Happy Easter guys and gals!

Ok,
question for you super guys. Do sub c cells fit on the JP knuckles or 2/3a's.
Gonna start ordering some batts and need to know. Was thinking of running my 3s lipos but dont want to weight the chassis.
Thanks

The knuckles are made for SubC's. Depending on the rims, you may need wideners.

can I make an electronics suggestion? for steering power, cc bec with dual 8711's. or if you wanted this to be the "insanity build" you claim it to be, you could figure out how to run quad 8711's

Servos are still up to debate. Just ordered 2 MM's and a CC Bec from Holmes Hobbies. Tryin to work a deal with the Hand Bros. for the steering setup. Should have a bunch of new parts tomorrow to show more on this build thread. Maybe dual servos in front and single in back..............
All I know is, if it can be made from titanium, it will be.

This is sounding like my Hustler build less the titanium I run a 3c lipo and it tucks in nice and neat up front in the chassis.
You won't be dissapointed

Well I got some more goodies for this build.

TTR clod axle set
JP knuckles x2
Integy alloy tubes x2
Integy full alum. gear set x2
TTR CVD's x2
Bearing kit
Hot racing motor plates x2
Hot racing pinions x2
Axial 40 series chrome 8 hole x2
Proline Moab xl's x2
TCS extender/17mm adapters for CVD's

I got started putting it all together and of course there were things that had to be machined. When I put the Integy tubes, JP knuckles and TTR cvd's together it was way tight. When together it would barrely turn and you could feel the cvd pretty bad.
So I pulled it apart and put both shafts of the cvd's in the lathe to clearance em a bit. I took .010 off of both the long and short shafts of the cvd's. With that it worked flawlessy.

Now that the axle tubes were together it was time to start on the cases. Time for a shave. After shaving the lower bolt boss, I epoxied it up on the inside to strengthen it up. After shaving it is very thin. I put a nice coat on the inside as well as the outside. Dont put to much on the inside as tolerance to the locker gear is tight. There is a bolt boss just above the one I shaved thats for the mount of a bumper. Its made for small screws. I drilled this out to 3mm so I could run a bolt through it. After I had all this done I wanted a skid of some kind. I had a very thin piece of teflon cutting board that I cut to match the axle. This stuff is real thin, like 1/32". I CA'd that in place and epoxied in the shap edges and sanded smooth. This is what I wound up with.

After all this work, this is what the finish axle looks like.

Wheel narrowing is next.
