Default Finally Got Me One!

Well, I've been jonesin' for a Crawler ever since Digler turned me on to this site and Crawlers in general a while back and finally got me one Ended up working a trade on a Clod based rig a couple weeks ago(never seen a single outdoor run). It definately needs some goodies added, but it's not too bad at all as it sits. I think first thing on the list is a couple Lathes and still debating on tires or some other little odds and ends and work with trimming up the stockers for now. Also, I figured my cheap *** better pay up and get me a star too since I'm sure I'll be buggin the hell outta y'all for advice now Anyway, here's what she's got now:

Home brew chassis, links and servo mounts(not too shabby actually for now)
Super Chicken ESC
Stock motors(and pinions I assume)
645 MG front servo/Basic Ofna rear
Modded TQ3 for 4WS
Narrowed stock wheels/stock tires
alum threaded shocks(not sure white kind)
Blue and Orange H2 Lid w/RCCrawler Stickers( I hear they are almost as important as the Lathes )
also should be getting a set of TTR adapters I ordered any day now just in case I decide on standard Maxx size wheels.

Like I said, I know I need some vital parts to make this thing a real rock machine and any advice would be more than welcome as far as what things y'all think are priority. Here are some pics of her. Not the best 'cause of glare from the setting sun on the shiney new lid but anyway... Sorry for so many of them too, but I'm like a proud papa again ...

what kind of a question is that ... 'does it crawl?' kinda lame question isnt it?

cool looking truck you have there. btw, cutting the tires and rims are real easy.

Very cool Clod ya got there. I'd do two things, besides tires & lathes. Take the spacer out between your drag link and knuckle. It's going to break the knuckle by adding leverage and twisting it repeatedly.

Thanks again guys.

rckjeep, thanks for that info. That's how it was setup when I got it so i will definately take that out. I planned on changing out those skinny little drag links and stuff for something a little meatier anyway

Lathe's, ClodMod Adjustable motor mounts, 9T pinion; other than that I'd just run it and see wha you find needs improvement. Overall it looks like a great start.

When you do what rckjeep suggested and are making new steering links; flip the servo so that the servo horn is closer to the tire. This will lower the vertical height of the servo horn and make the drag link longer. Both of which will help steering by lessening the drag link angle.

Thanks for the tip Grizz! I will definately do that while I'm at it.

As far as narrowing the wheels, The outer bead on the backside of the wheel is simply cut off...

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions fellas
