| Need Bumper suggestion.... please
First Post here, so ..... HI! Has anyone used the JPS, New Era, or other servo mount/bumpers? I've been cleaning up my son's clod for a few days now, and got it out in the yard with him today. It's a homebrew 4-link with stock chassis that I cobbled together a few years ago. For a kid to bash around the yard with it's fine for now except for 1 thing. It's got a case mounted front servo. Second run this year he drove it straight into a tree 10 seconds into the battery. The Z4750 servo didn't survive. I can't do an axle brace mount, or BTA because of the current link setup. I think the servo-in-a-bumper setup might be my only solution without doing a major overhaul to rearrange all the links. Anyone have any experience with them? Or maybe 1 laying in a box you want to sell? |

I have one. I used it for a while then handed it down to my son. He used it for a bit and now he has new steering as well. I believe it's a JPS unit as most of my aluminum parts when it was a MT were from them. It works ok, the servo only lines up on 2 of the mounting hole once you install it. You have to use a short servo arm due to clearance so you will need a strong servo. Other than that it works very well and offers lots of protection for the servo and gear case. It's pretty BEEFY!!!! PM me if you would like to buy it.

Up until very recently I was running a Thundertech front servo mount & bumper (http://www.thundertechracing.com/bumper.htm). 100% loved it, mainly the strength and the bashability of it. Unfortunately it sticks out in front of the axle too far for my liking...likes to get hung up on rocks.

Thanks for the replies. I want to be able to use all the servo mounting holes, and don't like the idea of using a super short servo horn. I'll have to use a servo saver (currently OFNA) because he'll be bashing this, not crawling. Does the Thundertech one allow room for a servo saver? Thanks Again |

Sure does. I know on the website they show the behind the axle setup being used with the bumper/mount, can't remember if they show it set up in front...but you can run set it up to run in front of the axle and use a servo saver.

Never had a problem with just the 2 screws holding the servo in place. It's pretty much encased by the bumper. You can use a servo saver that's what I always used. I don't want much for it, just want it to go to good use. It served my son and I well, especially while he was learning to drive the rig we built for him.

| SUPERINVA, I sent you a PM. Warmachine, I did look into that one before. it looks good, but it's pretty pricey with the bumper. I like that it has some more room though. Thanks Again for the replies. Mods, sorry I didn't mean for this to be a WTB thread. |
