Lightbulb New reduction Units

Has anyone tried the new reduction units from rc4wd

Well I got everything installed and wired up but radio got busted up so I cant test it out till new radio comes in.

I have it setup with some new 55t motors and the reduction ratio is 66.17:1 w/ Srooster and 7cell 3300..

im trying to figure out if it's just going to be over kill

My buddy had the TTR reductions, total overkill. He went to Lathes and 9 tooths.

I just put mine in with 55 turn lathes. Lots of torque wheel speed is slow as expected but is better than expected.
Max speed is about the same as me walking. I just got my truck together today, so far so good.
A couple things your motors will run in the opisite direction and the are a little noisy. I will see how well they work this weekend.

those would be nice with a lower turn motor.. but you'd sacrifice runtimes.

Hey Tim did you install any Flux Capacitors on the motors?
I only found 2 in my shop so I guess I might aswell go buy some.

Yea I noticed they were a lil loud when i tested w/ a battery to make sure nothing was binding up.

these would be perfect for mag mayhems it seems, or lathes run on more than 6 cells.

Wink Super rooster/lathes are 12volt capable right!?

11.1 lipo or 12volt sub c pack would be great with lathes and reductions. Plenty of wheel speed and gobbs of torque!

I have it installed with 55t and 9th pinion. It seems to work well and it can generate enough wheel spin when needed. I am only running a 6 cell 3800Mah pack.

I would like to see what it does with a lipo pack though.

Could you run a lipo pack with a super rooster?

Mine seems to make nosie only when it has weight on the wheels. IE if you pick it up it purrs and hardly makes any sound at all when applying the throttle. When you run it on the ground it does generate significantly more noise.

I did notice that you need to position all the gears very carefully so that they do not touch or rub against any gears in the case. Also check to see that there is proper clearance between the pinion gear set bolt and the first gear (Larger one) on the shaft. I noticed that if they are not lined up/spaced correctly the set screw on the pinion can rub on the first gear on the shaft.

I also noticed that the rear motor gets warmer than the front with this setup. Could be this was always the case since I never checked the temps once it was finally setup. But is anyone else having this issue? It is not way hot but definitely warmer than the front one but not uncomfortable to the touch.

Well I finaly had time to put everything together and it looks very promising..

Much like the TTR reduction units I had I personally think these are set at what i had the other reduction units.. I was afraid of not having enough wheel speed especially runing some old 2400mah batteries and not even I had more then enough wheel speed running lathe motors w/ the reduction units..

and as soon as i get the spare Srooster repaired ill try to set her up w/ rear dig and stearing...
