Default Much needed hustler updates...

Some new updates to the old super.

I had some extensive upgrades I have had floating around in my head for the past few months and after last comp I tore the Hustler down and got started on it. I was never happy with the 1/4" rod and weak tiny traxxas ends on the hustlers suspension links, SO, THANKS TO A DAY AT SHOP HAUNTFREAKS!!!...they have been upgraded to 1/2" Delrin Lowers and 5/16" aluminum uppers with stainless 8/32 threaded inserts and Revo rod ends all around. It's virtually bombproof now!!!

I also spent some time Bending some metal on the Hustler to give it a different look and a more slippery profile to get it through the tight spots.
I brought the roof in alot so its about 1/2" more narrow at the roof line. The bottom of the chassis is narrowed too by about 1/4" on each side. I added new 1/4" square bottom rails and a 1/4" thick Delrin skid plate. The bottom rails and skid were both made to work with inboard mounted links. I trimmed off alot of useless braces and junk that was just weighing down the chassis. The rig is stretched out now. It sits at 17-15/16" WB LOL.

Those are some really nice upgrades to your Hustler. Looks much more bullet proof now.

Nice upgrades. I'm taking a little different approach, but I'm putting a delrin skid in mine as well. Yours is looking really clean....I like it.

If you want BEEFY rod ends, use the 1:8 scale Losi ends. They make the Revo's look like 1:18 scale ends. Thats all I will run on my super. They take to #10 threads good and use an 11 or 12mm ball. Still use a 3mm bolt to mount them with though,so they work really nice.

Most of the parts on this rig are made by Me...the suspension links are no exception...They are spun on a lathe and tapped for 8-32 thread.

The weights were hand cut out of 1/2" steel plate and they were a massive PITA to make...so, good luck with them LOL...seriously...they were no fun to make. unless you have access to a cnc plasma cutter.

Well...I finished it up the other night and got it out on the rocks yesturday. OMG this thing is soooo much better now. The extra wheel base it has now is really nice and the super slippery belly profile lets it slide over almost anything. I'm super happy with the mods.

Looking pretty good man. Glad to hear the mods worked out. I'm building a Super from scratch as we speak, and it's always nice to see cool ideas. I gotta ask how you like the Meat Grinders, and what's the overall OD?

Thanks!

I absolutley love the meat grinders. I have a set of PLow boys too and they both rock!!

I like the meat grinders a little bit better...they are just more consistent feeling...We run on alot of different kind of surface in Jersey/PA and so far these work great on all of them. The Diameter is right about 7" on the HPI Blast wheels.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! I've read good things about the Panther compound. Gives it quite the sinister appearance too lol.

IMO...they are the best sidehilling super tire possible. Thats where they shine the most. The rig will roll over before the tires let go...and this rig doesnt roll over easily.
