| Alternate motor mounting I will admit that I didn’t do a very exhaustive search, but I think this would be talked about more if people had tried it already. I could be very wrong. Anyway, I don’t like the idea of using an adjustable motor mount to be able to use a smaller pinion. So would someone like to help me see if this would work? This is the way a motor normally mounts. First picture shows what holes the screws go in to the motor. Second picture shows where the motor sits on the gearbox. Third picture shows where the motor is inside the gearbox. Notice how the screws and the center of the motor are in line with each other. This is the way I am proposing mounting the motor to be able to use a smaller pinion with out an adjustable mount. Pictures are in the same order. Notice how the screws are on the same side of center on the motor. Since the screw holes next to each other are 3/16” apart you are moving the pinion gear on the motor 3/32” closer to the spur gear. Some trimming of the gear case would be required to allow the protruding part of the motor to move that far. My problem is that I don’t have any pinions besides the stock one to look at so I don’t know if there would be any out there that would fit the new position. That’s why I started this thread. I was hoping some of you that have different pinions lying around would want to try this and see what size worked if any. Sorry the pictures are a little out of focus. Anyway I hope this ends up helping some people and I hope I didn’t bring up an already dead subject. Merrixs |
