| TTR CVDs and RC4WD steering knuckles
Alright guys here is my problem. my new knuckles don't fit. at first I thought the stock knuckles didn't work with the CVDs because when I JB welded the stock diffs the sun gears spread out a little, spacing the CVDs out. I bit the bullet and decided to buy the Tracgear lockers. Anyway, tracgears came in two weeks ago and knuckles came in today. I install everything, but I can't get the screws to go into the knuckles, which is the same problem I had with the stock knuckles. Is there something I need to do to make everything fit (eg take out the E-clip by the diff, grind something down) that someone else has done? Also, on a side note, I am glad I am almost done with my crawler because RC4WD's quality control is horrific. I had to dremel down the insides of one of the tracgears to get the star adapter to fit and the holes in the arms for the knuckles aren't straight, making them point up or down. |

the opposite, actually. The bearing doesn't seem to fit deep enough.

I have yet to have anything close to that happen and I've ran both plastic and aluminum knuckles :? Do you have any pics of your setup? Are you using the bigger bearings supplied with the CVD's? Last edited by Highmark; 05-10-2006 at 06:11 PM. |

| I bet your problem is the holes for mounting the steering knuckle to the axle tube are in the wrong location. I bet if you install your stock axles and sub axles it will work fine because there is more clearance on the stock axles than the cvd. Send them back poor craftsmanship |

No!!! I just bought steering knuckles from rc4wd last week and I had the same problem with one of them, I also run cvd's. It is due to the fact that the inner bearing race is not machined deep enough. you can tell if you drop the bearings into the race and if they sit flush with the knuckle it isn't deep enough. If (and only if) the bearing sits about 1/16 (of an inch) below flush then the problem is something else. Call the guy (if you can get a hold of him) and tell him that the knuckle won't go on far enough because the inner bearing(s) wont go deep enough.. He will then try to send you a shim kit and that will actually make the problem worse, so that isn't what you need |

The knuckles are fine other then the holes not being perfectly in line. It was the CVDs that are the problem because even with the stock plastic knuckles there isn't enough room. Having said that, I ground down some of the CVD shaft a little bit and removed the inner e-clip. I have the front suspension done and will start working on the rear tomorrow. |

after a lot of grinding I have my whole clod done. woo hoo! it seems like the rear is getting less steering power then the front. guess I need to save up for some of those Hitec robot servos |

IF you are buying Knuckles I would spend the extra money and get the better quality from GPM.

I have the cvd's and the RC4WD knuckles and I have no problems!! I have only bought GPM Product once for my T-maxx and I will never get them again!! one word JUNK!! they use low grade aluminum that will bend in no time!! Just my two cents..
