the best chassis on the market is the NN chassis from the crawler store. it works great on the rocks and i will like it alot.

^^^ I agree totally. It's an awesome chassis for the price, even offers some bling with carbon fiber side plates. |

theres only 2 problems with a stock clod buster the speed controler and the one servo that steers both axles spend a few bucks on a 4 wheel steering kit and a better speed controler but if your gonna get a chassis see if the one you like has the steering kit with it

| Don't forget to add bearings... The stock clod comes with bushings, not horrible, but in the long run you'll want some bearings. |

sorry for the tread jacking , i also just ordered a clod, will run it stock for a month or so before i decide what chassis to buy, besides bearings, servos what would you guys do for crawling preformace on the stock truck? what schocks, springs, 4ws kit that could be still be used after the mods on the new chassis? what pinion gear to use on the stock 540's? any suggestions are welcomed |

The chassis suggestions given already sound good. My two tips though: 1. get bearings NOW. install them while you're building the thing so you don't have to waste two hours later to do it 2. definately run it 100% bone stock a few times. It's an experience! The stock clod isn't nearly as capable as a customized one but it sure is a lot of fun anyway:-P |

I agree with eveyone above (except the chassis choice ). I would defenatly take the time to learn about everything on the stock one because it's a good learning experiance and a good base for a start. Then when you do the modifing to get it crawler werthy you will know (or at least have an idea) what you will want to do to it. And you will know what type of questions to ask about moding it. Don't rush or cut corners take your time. OH and get the Vertical Smile chassis... (oh yeah another shameless plug) |
