Wow........................

That's quite the fancy (and pricey) build list. You'll definately have to post some pics!

You might find that a 16t pinion is a bit big for crawling. Most guys are running 8t-10t pinions.

I have the bent arm version and keep breaking the black plastic rod ends where the lower arms mount to the chassis. These are just Traxxas rod ends but I have already broken three of them. I suspect the real problem is the length of the threaded rods. The threaded rods are so short that they seem to have a hard time supporting the plastic. I also suspect that my harsh crawling environment is putting extra stress on the rod ends with the bent lower arms. Other than the customer service at RC4WD, I like the ideas and the designs for some of their parts. I have no COMP experience but so far I like the general crawling abilities.

sounds like a fun project. try the 16 pinions, if they are not to your liking you can always change them easily later. i find on my emaxx crawler i run the 45t motors instead of 55/65 and a little higher pinion count then most people run. the truck is still slow enough, but i can still get some descent wheel speed. remember, most of the fun is building and tweaking your rig.

i too am building my first crawler from similar parts. i find the instructions sketchy at best. as a beginner i'd have liked more than a "guideline". i'm using the RC4WD axles with the extra parts, but the instructions are for the baic clod axles. also, i got the instuctions with the RB2, but it says to download the latest edition and when i did they look like instructions for the first rockbull and there are a few diferences. so far it's been just try it and change it and change it back. i use integy ms5 shocks and i think i'm going to have to use spacers on the outside of the frame between the lower links to get them out a little further as the shocks are pretty twisted on the bottom end of the lowers. i'll keep my eyes on this thread for your experiences. havn't got it together, but have 65t and 8 and 9 tooth pinions. i don't have metal gears, but do have the lockers. this thing does not turn very freely. is that normal?

It performs quite well. There is actually so many ways to "tweak" it to your own tastes that you are never really done!! lol

I just lowered my ride hieght and limited the suspension travel, it will do beyond 90 degrees if you let it....

As for the build, you really can't get it wrong. The chassis it self is only held together by 4 screws. So the rest is just working with the links to get the articulation you want and the weight bias to where you think your rig will climb best. Like most, I run a tad more weight forward for climbing, this can be a problem on steep decents, but I just keep the rear links maxed out so it it balances itself out....

you could always add a tiny bit of weight to the rear wheels or run a 2nd battery

i notice you don't have spacers between the upper link mounts and the upper link and cblake does. looking at the instructions i've seen no spacers on the rockbull two instructions and spacers on the rockbull instructions. does it matter? someone mentioned they didn't like the bent links. which set of straight links are best if i buy them? rcwd has several sets in different sizes. thanks, fritz

Here's a link to mine, the lenght they give is with rodend installed.Kinda confusing
http://rc4wd.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1181

I used pics off their site when building q's came up.They show the spacers.Other way might be just as good though. The bent links caused a lot of binding for me.Maybe its my setup but I noticed you dont see anyone running them in comps, and surely if they were a huge improvement they'd be everywhere. But that's just my opin.

You definately need spacer between the links and the frame. If your talking about the axles turning freely, they should with no motor attatched.
