Default New 2.2 Clod rock racer

Well it's not really a new rig because it uses the same clod axles as my last rig, as seen here:

But, that last rig had issues. The motors were too fast without enough torque, the chassis was too heavy, the wheels were too wide (and the "bead locks" sucked), the servo didn't have enough torque, and the body was way to beautiful too beat the crap out of it. My solution, scrap everything but the axles!

So here's the new stuff:

A chassis that is 1-1/2" narrower than the last, HPI super nitro wheels, and LRP vTec 1200 pack:

A better bottom shock mounting position and aluminum servo mounts:

65t lathe motors (couldn't track down any 55's around here):

Fixed steering linkage and new TowerPro digital MG servo (200oz at 7.2 volts, 170 at 5):

And the obligatory poser articulation shot:

And a couple trail driving shots:

I decided to throw on my old T3 crowd pleazer body as a place holder, but I think it looks pretty good on it.

Rock Racer?

With 65 turn motors?

What'll it do? 4 mph?

Yeah, about that...it's just a wee bit slow for rock racing, so I'm going back to the FJ40...

Yup. I have to because of the BTA steering, so with the slow motors, it makes up for it. It's pretty slow, but it'll go over pretty much anything and the LRP1200 battery will go for about 45 minutes.

I'm diggin the shock mounts. I've been scratching my head thinking about something similiar. I want to use axle braces (which i'm currently not doing) and want to run BTA steering on the front but right now my lower shock mount shares the same bolt as the lower link. hmmmmmmmm

How are those wheels working out? I thought about using those same wheels, but the bead seems a bit shallow to securely hold the tire bead in place.
