Default 60/40 or 50/50 ?

I'm designing my chassis. I've been debating in my head weather to design it as a 60/40 chassisor a 50/50 chassis. I know I can just mess with the link length later. However If I can design the chassis to cater to the 60/40 I could make the suspension work better.

So who is running a 60/40 chassis? Is it worth it to put the time into doing this?

the weight is forward more where we need it I can put the Speedcontrol on the front axle to lower the weight a little more.

Thats what I have been leaning toward.

Less hassle with having to make battery packs to fit on axles to get the weight distribution right.

I imagine the rig will act more like a 1:1 scale rig as well.

All I've ever had as far as rc rigs is a nylint 1:6th jeep.

So I'venever seen an actually seen a crawling chassis in my life....

How long is an NN chassis plate at it's longest and shortest points?

I'm not going to copy the chassis. I just need an idea of the measurements so I can make my side plates.

I'm using solidworks to draw it up that way I can easily print out a 1:1 scale copy to stencil onto the aluminum.

SO far I have made two seprerate center points on the drawing

the 50:50 center point and the 60:40 center point. this will allow for the 60:40 calcs. for tyhe links and a 50:50 based point for mounting the shocks.

Didn't find anything on that link.

But after a few too many beers I locked my diffs. modded the nylint wheels and mounted my pinions, motors and adapters.

I set everything where I wanted it and measured.

I underestimated on my side plate material. so now I need to get another small sheet of aluminum. Got one side plate drawn out I just need the other peice so I can cut it all out.

I've cut and tapped the aluminum rods that will attach the two side plates.

found and cut my CJ-8 body and then I organized all the crap I had spread through out the room.
I'm well on my way to having a 60/40 chassis,or something close to that ratio.

I need to order a few more things and this rig will be done. I wish my full size rigs could come together this quick.

Thumbs up

My 60/40 is a geko-I chassis with 7.25" links in the back and 6" links in front. Not sure if it's an exact 60/40 split but looks it to me. Works great, and if I want 50/50 I just put the other set of 7.25" links on the front and it's there.

Can you tell me what seperarion is between the front and lower links on the chassis.

This will help me with making my links.

I can'y get the chassis plates done yet but if you got me the measurement I could use it to determine my links length for my chassis.

It's not so much about the measurement as it is the design of triangulation. Enuff said...uppers and lowers (from my limited experence) tend to be designed to be parallel to each other for "antisquat".

Just like the real thing only smaller.

I'm used to being able to weld link mounts wherever I need to on a full size axle.
