Default My new Clod project

As you may have seen, last week I had a Clod on here for sale.It didn't sale for what I wanted,so I decided to build it.I bought Roktoy's (from rccrawler) RokClod 9 chassis and here is the start of the mock up.Keep in mind, some hardware will be changed, and the stock shocks are only for mock up.

The Clod before:

The RokClod 9 chassis:

And the mandatory articuation shot (those are Stampede tires):

Here is the truck in its current state.I used E-Maxx shocks, locked the diffs, moved the servo to axle brace, and moved steering tie rods above the knuckles.I still need to clean up some wiring, add rear steering (later),and lathe motors (thinking of going with 35T)It's not finished, but it's close.

Someone suggested on another board that I use Savage shocks instead of the E-Maxx shocks. What advantage would this be?I am getting 80+ degrees of articulation now.

i dont know but do you still have the stock chassis? if so can i have the top removable peice that the old speed controler and reciever go on, i need it for my clod project. pm me if i can have it, might pay.

i say dont worry about tires, just do a little cutting and get some bead locks, or narrow the wheels and glue the tires to the wheels.

Keep the Max shocks, Savage shock are to long! You have MORE than enough articulation as it is right now.

As for motors, If you intend to bash more than crawl, get the 35t lathe motors. But if you intend to crawl more, then get the 55t or 65t lathes and run 7 or even 8 cells if your ESC is rated for it!

And a good set of crawler tires (40 series Mashers, or Moabs) w/ good wonders!

Looks like a good start!

Thanks everyone for your comments. This is my first crawler project, but damn sure not my last.Dez,more than likely I'll go with the 35T.My speed control will only handle 7 cells.I am currently using a LRP F1 Super Reverse Digital.I'm thinking that I should be ok running rear steer, the ESC has a BEC of 5 volts. The Clod is pretty much done except for lathe motors and rear steer.I'm planning on replacing the body, does everyone think the Pede size body looks ok,or should I go with a Maxx size body?If it matters, the wheelbase is 16".Here is a body off shot with all of the electronics mounted. All connectors will be replaced with Deans when the lathes go in.
