The UTRCRC VPrime chassis is pretty sweet. I ran one for a while. Very nice chassis. They are discontinued, so finding one may take a little work.

The NN came out almost a year after the Vprime. So, the NN looks like a longer Vprime. If we want to get technical. Back to the question. You could try making your own chassis. Or having a tube chassis made. |

I've been really happy with my 2.2 clod running the NN chassis. 14" may be a little too long for some, but you also have the option to adjust it up to 17" if you want to run bigger tires and compete in Unlimited class. |

Thanks for the compliments guys, but I must give credit where it is due. My build was totally inspired by bigdsti's 2.2 NN (blue Rubicon body) that can be seen in the NN gallery on thecrawlerstore.com, and in the NN pics thread in the vendor section of this forum. As for my rig, I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but the specs are all pretty basic: JB Weld lockers Super Rooster 55t Integy's Losi XXXT rear hard anodized / threaded shocks 4 wheel steering with 645MG's Airtronics M8 Moabs or Masher 2K's Here are a few more pic's |

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that jeep too long and too wide to be a true 2.2 crawler. Quote:

^^^ It's 14" long, & no it isn't too wide. That's what 2.2 tires look like, on a Clod... |

I prefer them over the Moab on certain types of rock. The Moabs seem to work better on course rock while the Mashers work better on smoother surfaces IMO.

If you are running comps under the rules posted on this site as the official rccrawler.com rules, which are also shared by the USRCCA, 2.2 class is limited to 12.5" wheelbase, and 12.5" track width, so my clod would be oversized. Here in the Pacific Northwest (the well established ORCRC (www.orcrc.com), and the rapidly expanding but still young warcrc (found in the "RC Corner" section of www.nw-wheelers.com), we run a 2.2 Unlimited class. There are no size restrictions, the only real limitations are 2.2 wheels / tires, and two wheel steering, rear steer must be mechanically locked out. Quote:

What wheels are are on that rubi? The offset does look pretty wide. I say make your own. You can do it with basic hand tools and scrap material you can find. |

They are Traxxas Stampede electric front wheels, narrowed on the inner bead. They cost less than 4 bucks a pair, and I dye them black. These ones >>> http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJK63&P=7 |

This is super easy! - Used Rit fabric dye, available almost anywhere. You just mix it with water in an old pot and simmer it on the stove. Put in the wheels, and let them simmer for 15 - 30 minutes. The longer they soak, the deeper into the nylon the color will soak in. You can get almost any color if you want to go yellow, red, blue, whatever. There are detailed instructions here >> How do I dye (color) my RPM dyeable parts? And an update on the Clod being oversized. warcrc will be changing to meet the national rules for next season, so yes, it will be too big then. |
