| 2.2 Clod Axel based Crawler
Here is my newest crawler. I wanted to make somthing a bit more scale but still be a fully capable crawler. I made a TLT rig the other day, but just didn't like the performace compared to the Clod axel rig. (just my preference :P ) So I finished this one up and have been having a blast with it. Anyway I hope you like it. Enjoy! http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45095 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45093 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45092 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45091 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45090 |

Finally someone who knows how to do a proper four links with clod axles. So many people are making the links at such an angle that it can't work too well. Nice work.

Thanks guys for the kind comments. I've also got a new large scale crawler to post up as soon as Pinch and myself have finalized the new chassis. I'll keep you all posted. Videos soon to be posted as well..... |

I do....They work really well due to the M2 tire compound. It's a total riot to drive these around. Even to most trivial obsticals seem fun to drive. |

Don't you just hate those newbie's who dont post articulation pics of their finalized rigs? Looks awesome, seeing that youve had and driven both trucks, would you consider doing a small writeup on the pro's and con's?

OHHHHHHHHHHH DAM!!! that looks bloody awesome!!! I was going to get a tlt.......but now I have 2 choices...this would probably perform nearly as good as the yeti?? I think I might have to do mini clod project now....you and pinch gonna produce this chassis? can ya take a pic of it next to the yeti?? so we can see the difference in size.. |

Actually my biggest question is what sort of clearance do you have under those axles? More or less than the TLT axles? Good one badger |

| Re: 2.2 Clod Axel based Crawler
Thanks for all the feedback and questions. Here is a brief overview of the 2.2 compared to the competition sized crawler. The 2.2 crawlers in my opinion are a bit more fun to just go out and crawl with. I call this x-country driving or taking a hike. The reason for this is that obsticals are easier to come across and most obsticals are challenging. Maybe its just me, but the comp. crawlers are just way to easy to drive and the challenge comes from the comp. itself. Otherwise the comp. crawlers are pretty boring to drive. I find that the unless I'm competing I don't use my larger comp crawler. Here are the dimension of the 2.2 vs. the Comp Crawler Wheelbase 2.2 - 12" Comp - 16" Center Chassis Clearance 2.2 - 3.5" Comp - 4.25" Width 2.2 - 12" Comp - 15.25" Center Diff. Clearance 2.2 - 1.5" Comp - 2.25" I really don't notice the center diff. clearance as much as I thought that I would. I find that I pick my lines more carefully but other than that there really is not downfall to the diff. clearance. To address the question about UTRCRC building a 2.2 chassis.....Sure everything for the right price is for sale For those of you trying to decide on whether to build a 2.2 Clod or a TLT.....Thats really a question of whether or not you want a shaft driven rig or not. I hate to say one is better than the other but my preference is with the Clod. It fits the amount of articualtion, center clearance, driving style and look that I like. However the shafties look and perform great too. Either truck will drive and perform great! I've built 2 TXT's, and a TLT scale crawler and just keep finding myself competing and toying around with the Clod system. Here are a few pics of some articulations shots (damn newbies) and some side by side shots. Parden the blacked out area on the comp. Crawler, this is still in the marketing phase. http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45120 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45122 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45123 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45124 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45125 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45126 http://www.rcpics.net/view_single.php?medid=45127 I hope this helps. Enjoy! |

| Re: 2.2 Clod Axel based Crawler Great looking rig! Did you glue the axle housing halves together? It looks like most of the screws have been shaved. I've never owned a Clod..... might have to get one and build it small! BTW, what are the wheels from, Stampede? |

The best wheel to use is one designed for the rear of an electric Stampede or Rustler. They have the offset that you see in Kaetwo's pics Kid. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...mp;FVPROFIL=++ Proline, RPM, and Traxxas all make nice ones that fit well. The wheels you show Kid will push the tires way out. |
