Default Oly got new shoes

The Nylint rims didn't hold up worth a damn so I did what almost everyone else is doing....

Got Some Moab XL's and some cheyenne Beadlocks.

I removed the bling and narrowed two of the wheeels today.Tomorrow they will get dyed and the other two will go under the knife.

Nice, Love the Moabs. How do you remove the chrome look and dye them.

Easy off oven cleaner took the chrome off and didn't hurt the plastic at all.
The easy off does make your skin a little gummy and I'm missing some fingerprints now. so I suggest you wear gloves.

I'm going to try Rit dye to dye the wheels black.

wheels and tires are all done. the rumor is correct. These tires do work well.

I used Rit dye. you can get it at the grocery store. it is used for dying clothes.
I used to use it to dye the A arms of my old RC-10's and my oval cars

i got two small boxes of dye.
Put it in a big stainless pot with water.
put it on the stove and heated it up a bit then gave the rims a bath for a little over 30 minutes. It's kind of like dying easter eggs.

No problem.

Just make sure you get all the chrome off and the yellow under layer.

I had to hit someof my rims twice becasue I had a shiny yellow layer under the chrome.

I'll have to keep that in mind for my next project.

this rig was built to be beat. I didn't want any shiny stuff on it. I almost painted the orange rings but my girlfriend liked the way it looked so I let it be.

she just drove it with the new rims and tires and she could not believe the difference.
she has only driven an rc truck twice.
the first time it was mine with nylint tires
then today the same truck with the moab xl's

believe it or not the rc crawler is good training tool for a complete rookie at fullsize crawling. they get a good idea of how a vehicle acts on different obstacles.

Lets just say I've tossed the nylints to the side and haven't looked back.

I've also had to rearrange my rock pile to make it a little less boring.

I now have my rock pile set up to work on technical side hilling.
those Moabs stick really well.
