| ESP Chassis?
What is an ESP chassis? I have never heard of it, and nothing comes up in a search. My freind said he was going to buy a clod based crawler with a ESP chassis, and wanted to know if it was any good. I didnt know what to tell him.

not a lot of flex or ground clearance. In it's defense, it is a chassis designed a long time ago for racing. This one ain't that great for crawling, no clearance with the lower links in the "stock" locations. ESP Clodzilla 3 chassis with the long wheelbase links at about 13 1/2" wheelbase, not much more flex than that |

Zillas are easily modded to be used as crawlers, they are a good basic chassis and cam be found cheap. Just make some longer links and move the lower links to the servo saver hole. |

you cut up the chassy, narrowed it and moved the links... you can polish a turd.........but at the end of the day you still have a turd... |

It's alot more fun to drive that the stick is. More challenging I guess.

Hey there Here is my 'RACE ONLY TURD!' I took some pics with the body off. The plan is to run Moab XL's but I am still waiting for the wheel adapters from RC4wd. I paid for them 12 ish days ago, so I am sure they are on the way. Rene Last edited by renoirbud; 07-23-2006 at 07:27 AM. |

I posted this in the show your rides thread, but here it is since it directly relates to your post. ESP like everyone said was the cream of the crop for chassis back in the day but have long since become dated. though as seen here, you can make longer links (and drill new mounting holes if need be) to create a capable crawler. Though i think in the long run your better off using a different chassis unless your just a basher like myself. Here is mine. Started as a clodzilla 4 chassis and kinda went from there. The antena now runs on the inside of the body as apposed to the actual rod sticking out the top. Chassis: Clodzilla 4 with custom hex links and body mounts. ESC: Tekin rebel 2 with 2 hitech servos. Radio: TQ3 baby! lol. Tires: Obviously Moabs. i havnt changed the motors on it yet seeing as i cant seem to get tower to have the lathe motors in stock. |

thats what i raced in the 90's....and thats what i ment by saing its a race only chassy.... you wouldn't race a old TA02 chassy against the TB Evo IV just because you can put the same turn motor, tires and springs on both....would you? i understand you can cut up, narrow, do a better 4link and move the shocks around to make the zilla crawl but its like beating a dead horse....

hey Jason, If you feel that modding a chassis to make it perform better is a bad thing, maybe you should not mess with this whole crawling thing. The ESP chassis have their place, they are cheap, good bashers and abundently avail. used. Everything you learn by running a ESP will aply when you run a better chassis too. About kicking a dead horse, its better to beat them when they are dead, otherwise they might kick you. |

I'll bet they would still be competitive today, stick chassis don't win every competition.
