| motor cleaning
anybody now how to take apart a stock 540 motor and clean it out, one of mine is giving me a really bad time and i think cleaning it will help.

When you say stock, do you mean one with a sealed endbell? Flush it out with motor spray very well, and let it dry. Add a drop of bearing oil to the bushings on either end of the can. You can also get a "comm stick" to clean up the comm a bit.

like mad scientist says flush it really well with motor spray and but some oil in it, let it dry a bit and plug it in not hooked up to the tranny or axle if it is a clod and run it a bit to dry the brushes off.

thanks, hopefully my dad has a spare can in his shop. this the only real problem with my gearboxes/motors, until i can get some new lathe motors this is what ive got to work with.
