Default clear gear covers

Does any place sell these things seperately? The sticker ones that came with mine kind of got torn up when I was tightening the nuts for the moter mounts and I'm about to build a clod for a friend and want to do a cleaner job.
thank you

Joe

are you talking about the clear spacers that they use when they change pinions? if so they sell them, or you can use plexi and make them..always good to make things

I'm talking about the clear cover that you put on the opposite side of the motor that you look through to set the pinion. Might go to hobby lobby and see what the have. Need some stuff to make antenna mast too.

Thanks!
Hobbylobby here sucks, didn't have jack. And the LHS closed so now there is no hope.

I got some from Twinset on here a long time ago, but for most of the stuff I hit you don't even need a gear cover. If you're really paranoid though, set the gear mesh with no cover, then put some duct tape over the hole so crap doesn't fall in and screw over the gears.........packaging tape would make a clear version.

A friend is paying me to do this so I want to do a real clean build for him. I've learned some little tricks and what I would do differently with mine to make his real nice. Thats the main reason I want to get the covers for his.

Use a scrap piece of lexan, like what's left over from when you cut out the wheel wells.

Why do people buy these things? I could make them in my sleep, so I bet you could make a pretty nice set of 'em when you're awake

I 2nd this, it's what I used, works good. The only thng you may need is shorter motor screws or some washers for spacers to keep the screws from going to deep into the motor cans.

I didn't even think about the lexan from the body. I was trying to find a small piece at the hobby store but that would have been too convienent. Great idea

The problem with the tape would be like I had with clear sticker covers that came with my motor mounts. As i tighten the nuts, it tends to grab the cover and tear it. I could put the packaging tape on after but like I said above, I am building this for a friend who is paying me for my time. I would like this crawler to be very clean and let him tear the piss out of it.

They make very thin double sided carpet tape, looks like packing tape but with glue on both sides. Cut your lexan to fit, the stick the carpet tape on the lexan then stick it to the gear case. You can drill out holes in the lexan so it fits right over the bolts, plus the tape on the lexan keeps dust and water out. Can be found at wal-mart. Lexan alone doesn't keep the nastyness out, but this double sided tape will seal the case and lexan together.
