Default Which shocks are appropriate?

I'm currently looking at two different shock choices for the Clod-based tube basher I'm fabbing up on-the-cheap.

I found these at the local hobby shop yesterday; they're only about $1 more than what Tower is charging for a pair of them: Associated MGT shocks.
After looking at the MGT shocks' specs at Tower's site, I did some searching here in this forum and found a lot of hits for Integy MSR4 T-Maxx Shocks.

Both seem to be the same diameter; the MGT's are about 1/4" longer extended, and probably about that much longer compressed. I'm not worried about the included springs; I'll probably have to change them anyway. The differences I can see:
  • MGT's have the reservoir on them, which might make mounting the upper end difficult in my tube frame.
  • The MGT's have a plastic body, while the MSR4's have an aluminum body.
  • The MGT's appear to use spacers for spring adjustment, while the MSR4's have a threaded body for an adjustment collar.
  • The MSR4's are blue-anodized, which will go well with the blue hammertone Rustoleum I plan to paint the chassis with. The MGT's are gray & black - not so good.
  • The MSR4's come with mounting hardware; the MGT's don't.

The cost of the MSR4's from Tower, after shipping, is a bit more expensive than the MGT's from the hobby shop. But I do have a couple other things I need in my Tower wish list (HiTec 645MG and a Kimbrough servosaver), and they're all Parts Express items.

Decisions, decisions...
Anyone have input they'd like to share?

You forgot a bullet-point: the MSR4 has the captured rod end at the bottom AND top of the shock. A definite plus in my opinion.

Don't consider the integy's. They leak like a Mofo.

Here is another option. These are what TCS recomends for their NN. Running them on mine and I'm impressed at the construction for something so small.

Are they the same shocks in the link TxCruzr provided - the Hot Bodies threaded shocks for the T-Maxx?

Just an FYI here... If those're the stock MGT shocks, the resevoirs are fake... There just for looks... Have no function other than "Hey.. THOSE look cool..."
