| 2.2 Torsion Stick Clod
Well, I had today off from work and was working in my garage on various projects when I saw my brother's torsion stick TLT and then saw my clod next to a length of aluminum 1/4" C channel and figured I would build my own. I know a torsion stick clod has been done (pimp cane and alf, at least I think alf was a torsion design), but I wanted to make one myself to see what this design is capable of. Here is the test victim: My new 15 1/2 inch stick: First I needed to fabricate the mounting brackets. I used some 1/4" aluminum for this: From there, it was just a matter of drilling the holes on the stick and tapping the hols on the mounting brackets: And about an hour later, I had a chassis: And the obligatory flex shot: That's about max flex right there, but it will get more flexible with use and with the advantages of having a more rigid, lighter, super low CG while maintaining a high break over angle, I think the limited flex is something I'll soon get used to. Now, what body to use? |

My brother has your savage, so this was an extra body laying around the garage. I've made a V2 of this rig using 3/4" angle aluminum plus a few other suprises. |
