| water proofing?
i was just wondering what you guys use other than balloons and condoms i want to use that stuff that you dip your electronics in but i dont know what its called i was going to use that stuff that you dip like pliar handles and stuff but it seems to thick? need a little help before the rain season cant go without crawling for that long |

Im not sure that anybody uses condoms..... baloons are probably your best bet. I couldnt imagine trying to waterproofing something with a liquid, that just doesnt make sense. If I were you I would just use a balloon.

I've never done it myself but when/if I waterproof a rig it will be balloons and silicone gel/caulk.

balloons with silicon work great. search around cause there are some other threads where people used some different things that work. also the dip that you are looking for is plastic dip found in the paint section

Will the ESC get hot enough to melt the balloon? Or just silicone the ESC?

Water proof ESC is only $40. Balloon on the RX everything else is ok. |

you want to know about water proof rigs? check out the orcrc guys, there rigs are complete submarines, part of our comps take place under water.

| oh snap
well i did it shes waterproofed it was go big or gome home and i went big and..................success thanx for all the tips i ended up going with a combo of all ideas balloon on rx very tiny tuperware bowl just big enough for the esc and then stretched a balloon over the top and di-electric grease on the servo and battery conections it fawking sweet first i was sketched out so i went in a tiny puddle like 3'' deep and then drove around on dry pavment for a while to make sure and then................i drove it down the boat ramp at the local lake the people in the boat waiting for the trailer about shat their pants when all they saw was my antena tube swishing around in the water i never knew balloons could be so fun!!!!!!!! |

Keep an EYE on the ballon they will dry rot. You have to change it every few months.

got it covered i rubbed the balloons with some veggie oil before i ran it and after i run it every time just a little little bit though but thanx for the tip

after a good water bath i spray some electric motor cleaner through out the motor. so far so good. ;)
