Default XRC-Super!!!

Well at first the doubters said it wasn't versatile enough. Nevermind the fact you can throw just about any trans you want into it with the exception of a 1:1. Well now we have many 2.2's out there, at least one 14 incher that I know of, a couple of nice scale bodied XRC's, a few Xtreme XRC-CF's, and now we're building our full blown super class XRC crawler prototype! I'm so excited because I have to tell you guys that this shock setup with the Revo shocks and select springs has one of/if not the best flex feel I have ever come accross. Absolutely smooth as it gets with superb dampening throughout the range of flex. As it sits it has massive clearance and will be able to run a super slammed body. We are going to have to install wideners on it and tweak everything out but at this point it couldn't look better.

Thanks,
David

Looks okay, but the shocks are at such a retarded angle I don't see how it would function well on the rocks.

Stand them up, there's enough leverage from the links to get good clearance.

In case you didn't notice it has great clearance now. Why the hell stand them up? Just to be like everyone else? At this "retarded angle" as you put it you would never believe the performance and amount of travel. When I get the vids up I want to hear what you say then!

Revo shocks are so stiff and slow, I bet they work pretty good right there.

Exactly, this setup would not have worked with Maxx shocks or many others I know of. Our design was built around the revo shocks. We can set it up from very soft to almost a flex free chassis!!!

Sorry, didn't mean to offend, I know my wording was less than ideal.

But seriously, at least try standing the shocks up (not all the way, but at least enough for them to actualy have some damping force on the axles) and get your upper links parallel to the ground. Clearance and travel is nothing if you have a floopy rig with horrible suspension geometry.

Just a sudgestion based my 5+ years of rock crawling experience.

I will try it just to see what the difference is if any but right now the dampening is the best I've felt out of many vehicles. The shock goes through the entire range of its motion along with the articulation, not floppy at all.

Okay, I've now lowerd the top links very near level, and have moved the Revo shocks closer to vertical. Right now the bench test tells me I need to go back to a softer spring perhaps.

the only thing that lowering your front links to parrallel with the ground done was make your AS go way up in the front wich will cause it to unload alot easier

Nice lower shock mounts. :-P

What's the wheelbase, it looks short.

LOL, yeah I thought you might like them. Just like I've learned if you make something good expect to be copied. I thought the way you attached the shocks with the TLT axle stays was way cool! Oh, the wheel base is 17"

I would be worried w/ the shock mounts mounted in the middle like that they would break easy?

Thank man, glad you like the changes. I took you're advice, I'll have to see how it works on the rocks.

Not very likely as I used a piece of 1/2" Delrin for a home made stick once with several holes in it and it never broke but my aluminum tubing did. If these 3/8" Delrin links break I'll bump them up to 1/2" also.
