| stock pinions with a 65t and a 75t lathe
I am in the process of building a torsion clod with Giant Tracs... I was wondering if using a 65t and 75t lathe motor with the stock pinions would work(yes I did try to search) I figure the speed should be ok and because they are lower speed motors... that they would have no issue with torque.. Any help is appreciated! |

I have seen 65t with stock pinions work great on a 2.2 rig but doubt it would have the torque for your project. just my opinion

I have used stock pinions with 65 turn lathes on a 2.2 clod... had tons of wheel speed (for a crawler) and crawled slow speed pretty well. Had the tires been taller or heavier (like your giant tracs) I dont think it would have crawled well at all.

I have 55ts in my clod and stock pinions and I don't think I will ever change it. I like to have a little more wheel speed in case I need it and it will crawl pretty slow with a carefull touch on the throttle. Using cut clod tires for now.

I have 65t's currently on my clod with nylint tires, and they are a totally weak motor, I had 55t's before and will be putting them back in(almost did it tonight but got lazy) and buying motor mount's and pinion's, the 55's are good for now but it will be underpowered when I get my moab's.

im running 55t motors and stock pinions with moabs and love the performance i get from it! i can feather the throttle when i need to go slow and still have alot of wheel speed when i need it! I think 9t pinions are great most of the time but there are times when wheel speed is needed and i just learned how to drive instead of depending on gears to do it for me! |

Pinchflat and Kaetwo used to run Giant Tracs, 55T motors, and stock pinions. Their rigs worked great. I've never used the 65T motors I have but I imagine they would work good too in that setup.

I'm doing 45 Turn Axiom motors with 8 tooth pinions and running 6 inch tall Proline Badlands tires.
