Looks sweet, I would mount the uppers on the outside of the chassis though! Where do the shocks go? And what rod ends did u use?

Why would you mount the uppers on the outside? My Clod chassis is about the same width as a stock SW2 and I bind on the outside.

On mine I think it made it more stable and the suspension cycle smoother. I spaced the rod out from the chassis w/ a lock nut so it does not rub the chassis. I have had it numerous ways and that works best for me!

Robb, I really like the high clearance links!

Got a pic, would like to see it 666. I bound like no tomorrow (could even hear it creak as the rig drove around).

What rod ends are you using? The Jato rod ends have more movement then any other plastic rod ends I've tried.

Nice looking build Robb, I like the high clearance links too.

Playing around with shock/link mounting will probably be the main goal of the afternoon (snook in between doing all the normal "weekend" stuff"). Just sat down for a few to see if I can find some good pics of link mounts on 3/8" links. So far, I think I may "borrow" Bender's idea of tapping the links and using Tamiya mounts. Seems to be the best way I have found to keep the bottom of the links clean.

With the links mounted as pictured, I twisted the setup to far more than desired articulation, with no binding at all.

About 11am Saturday: T-minus 37 hours

hmmmmmmmm........

Instead of modifying (and probably screwing up) the links, I think I will experiment with some Savage shocks first. The length looks to be pretty good, and with spacing them in/out just right, I don't think they will bind.

We shall see...........

Awesome. I love these sw2 super builds, they perform amazing. Just goes to show how amazing BENDER's chassis are, second to none!

Those look good on there! I'm interested to see how that works out for you. Probably will have to run some thicker oil!

Where did you get those axle c braces? I might have to try something like that.

Looking at the pics again, you might be able to run some type of "droop" setup?

I would agree. With it set up the way it is right now it looks like you'll have like 7" of gc with the tires on. I bet it would sit nice with the shocks fully compressed and some internal springs.

They seem to be a great product. You will notice that I don't have the axle stays completely installed in these pics. By installing these stiffeners, you add just a little length to the stays (maybe 1/16"), which I have found, puts just a little "outward" stress on the Cs and tubes. I can feel the tube/knuckle bearings binding just a little, and the knuckle spacers are now hard to squeeze in. Grinding just a hair of material off where the stays mount to the axles should take care of this problem easily. Not knocking the product AT ALL!!! You just need to modify a little to install them properly IMO.

4pm Saturday:

Going to head out to see what I can find for internal springs locally, and open today.

To be honest, I have no idea. I have had them sitting around for awhile, and can't remember where I got them or who made them.

Edit: and couldn't find any springs that would work for the internals. I will go with it as is, and look for springs next week.

Are those Clod sized wheels/tires? I can never tell with some of these builds until I have something to reference their size...
