Default New super comp tuber

Last week i built my first clod tuber.I was not real pleased with how it looked or how heavy it was(i used 3/16 solid rod and heavy skid plate and body panels).
So last night i put pencil to paper and designed a chassis and got to work.
I used 1/8 solid rod and even with the extra material i had to add for bracing it is roughly half the weight.I also used 22ga. steel for skid, and pannels instead of the thick stuff i used on the other tuber.
I also came down to a 17 inch wheelbase ,and Kamikaze hooked me up with some springs to run droop suspension.
I have not had a chance to try it out yet, i started on it at about 9 last night and finished about 3 this morning(there is nothing more boring than watching paint dry).
Well enough B.S. tell me what you think.

Looks good... I will admit this: until I saw it with wheels on it, I thought it was huge... The height to length ratio fooled my eyes into thinking it was going to be rather tall... Then I saw the axles/wheels on pics... Looks like it'd be a really sweet performer in th class... Good job, mate...

Is that a Micro-T radio in the background there I see, too?

Yes it does fit the new rules.
The rules say you have to be 12 inches long,3 inches overall width, and 3 3/4 tall.
My new chassis comes in at 12 1/4 long,3 3/4 wide,and 4 1/4 tall.

Awsome build, looks much more competitive than mine. Cleanly done. Have you weighed it yet? I dont know what a good weight is for a super and just want to know where I stand. More than anything im glad to see its not a stick. out of all the super rigs I saw at my first comp, there was only 2 that wernt sticks. I might use some of your ideas to improve my rig! if ya dont mind

That looks awesome. You can only really appreciate tubers/rod framed rigs after you've tried to build one yourself. I have millions of shameful attempts at a crawler frame that I would rather forget about...

Props to Kamikaze on the chain link idea, too. Did you use rod for this build or tube?

I used 1/8 solid rod it is easier to work with and i use a mig and that small tubing is a pain to mig together.
I really like this setup alot i wish i would have made it alittle longer wheelbase but this will do for now.The droop set up works really well and lets you run the chassis alot lower wich equates to a much more stable rig.
This rig does so well i am considering taking my torsion apart and building another chassis setup like this to replace it.It is just hard to give up the ground clearence that the torsion has.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but after seeing this rig and a couple of others, I've decided to build my own rod framed rig, rather than my wannabe NN. Have you got any more pics of this crawler? Even a video? Thanks.

is this a droop rig? i notice theres no springs, and at full ride height the shocks are fully compressed.

This is a droop rig, and I have found that the spring from a pen fits nicely in my Maxx shocks.
