| Home made Clod to maxx wheel adaptors.
I had some extra brass clod parts laying around and made these adaptors. First you need 4 of the brass axle connectors that are inside the clod gear box. Next you need some standard 3/8 size nuts. The nuts should fit a 9/16 wrench. What I did was to put a layer of JB weld on the inside of the 3/8 nut and a layer of JB weld on the long end of the brass axle connector. Insert brass into nut and let it set overnight. Be carefull not to let any JB weld get into the inside where the axle splines are as you will need these. Once hardened you need to file off the other end until flush with hex part. Try not to damage the splines. Test the adaptor to the axle, if it will not go on at first line up splines (axle to adaptor) and tap lightly, It should go on. So far these homemade adaptors have worked good for me. I have only tested these on jumbo maxx rims, but if all maxx hexes are 14mm it should work for all maxx wheels. Here are some pics of what I did. Last edited by kwj48; 03-09-2005 at 02:23 PM. |

cool idea but how are you going to hold them on..... my ace adapters have a piece of 1/4" hex bar that is turned down and the inside is tapped to fit the threads on the outer axle. |

The regular wheel nut holds them on. That's why I filed down the shorter end, just enough for the threads to poke through the wheel.

Hey, can you throw us a pic of it mounted on the axle, from the outside of the wheel? BTW, great idea. I was going to try something very similar. |
