Default What kind of speed controller for a Clod

So Ihave my clod, but it has no speed controller. What kind do I have to get for this truck? It has 2 motors, so I know i need a special one.

Also, what kind of batteries do I get?

Thanks
Dima

I'm very pleased with my super rooster:-

it's got a full power reverse which it won't engage until the truck has come to a stop under braking, so getting out of trouble is not much harder than getting to to trouble

it copes with 10 cells (more if you don't care about your warranty), though you won't need that many for crawling

it spits out 3A for the servos, so no worries about starving servos of power

well worth every penny as far as I'm concerned, definitely the best truck ESC I've ever owned.

For batteries I'm using quality 2000mAh Sanyo 6 cell packs, cos I've got 5 packs of them from buggy and touring car racing (now using 2400mAh for the smaller toys). With the Thundertech 7:1 reduction units I get about 30 minutes of play time per pack, though I had about 10 minutes before the reduction units were fitted when using the stock gear ratio. If you use a 9T pinion you should see quite some improvement in run times from the most modest of packs.

SUPER ROOSTER

I have some Dynamite 2000 mAh packs and get about 20-25 min out of them in my Clod. I also have a SMC 2400 matched cell pack and get about 40 minutes out of it.

For the Clod,
I'd go for the new Novak Night Crawler ESC, specially made for rock crawling Clods! It balances and automatically distributes power to both motors equally, all the time.

Some of my contacts had mentioned that this might be happening from one of the major ESC manufacturers but I was unaware it was anything more than a rumor. This will be huge, Dirk axed me not to pass on the information he has about this just yet. Sorry.

Where can I get one of these? If they are not out yet, when will it be coming out?

Thanks
Dima

LOL! Dirk

How come Clod guys downplay the front axle spin as no problem until a possible solution comes along and they all jump at it like rat on a cheeto?

Save the $150 for an achilles heel fix esc and put driveshafts on it!

The advantages of a Clod go well beyond what yer puny driveshaft minds could possibly percieve!
You guys look at one problem with the design and cling to it like tick on a dog.
WHEN the solution to this problem is found you guys will be wishing you had jumped on the Clodwagon from the start.

I was thinking of a good/intelligent solution. Not what you did.
