Default CR Dev

Tamiya sent me one of the CR-01's for Scale Nats to help support the truck at the event along with start a development path for the chassis.

After working as much as I could with the existing wheelbase I made the decision to go to an aftermarket chassis with the goal being narrow and low.

I still need to put electronics in fnal positions on the chassis but it is about there. The shocks need alot of limiting as I have both alot of droop and too much artic compared to my GC1-2 chassis'. I am hoping to get some time on the rocks this weekend to offer some feedback.
the motor gearbox combo initially looked to be tall and a PITA to reuse but after a small cut with the dremel and using 1 mount I was able to get the tranny securely in the chassis. I need to sort a dig but the truck is about there.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer as I can.

CR chassis with the Wb taken to 12.5"

Changed the chassis to a BlackJack I got from a friend and it was availabl

EP yep about 11" right now I still have scaler tires on my Axial offset MSD's and I am talking to Ben about making a narrower offset for the Tamiya axle for those who want to go under 10.5

Right now it is at appx 2.75 I can get it to about 3.25. I run my GC2 at 2.75 also.

If you are talking scale the CR is not a bad handling truck at all. With minor changes it does quite well ove a suprising amount of terrain. I will be re-building another kit in semi stock form specifically as a 2.2 scale rig.

If you are comparing it to a comp rig then it needs changes. With mine I had issues on steep climbs with it pulling the nose from torque twist. If you look at the first pics you can see witha 1.2 wb along with link changes it handled alot better. Torque twist was almost eliminated. I spent alot of time with it last weekend after our Comp and was able to hang with most of the comp rigs but it still felt top heavy.

Switching to an aftermarket chassis was to see what can be done with the tranny out of the limitations of the stock chassis. The axles the same thing. What I did like on the axles was all the link positions that you have. It opens up alot more geometry positins than you have on other mfg's products.
