Well I'm working on converting my CR01, it was nice and all but the Land Cruiser body is really to small for the track width and the really short wheelbase is very limited, now that wouldn't be a problem but I plan to compete with this rig. We run a scale Modified Class here so I will be building to compete in that. So the body details won't be over the top since it will be a comp vehicle. I also plan to keep the weight down so a lexan body will be used and no steel cages. I originally had no intentions of keeping the Coils, but it's a nice little touch and I think it's a one of the selling points of the CR01. So I'll keep them. Really the kit is nice and like most Tamiya it includes great parts, but as usual the parts are just assembled wrong...LOL So with some new chassis plates and a bit of redesign work I have what I think is a much nicer rig. Now the disclaimer: This is proto-type, this is not the final cut, and the desing has already been altered and will be altered further after more testing. The yellow is a template, it will not be yellow. |

So far that's the ONLY aftermarket item that interests me. The truck is so good-fun out of the box you really don't need anything.

Well at the moment let's just call this my CR-7, once I have the CNC up and running, Mach3 figured out and a vendor star we can talk aftermarket chassis, but first vacation in the Hill Country, I need a week off from everything. I'll post beater body on pics later. |

I your chassis shorter in over all height, looks it,also have you solved the torque twist problem ,if so what fixed it.Also love your yard, but the pool ruins it.

No the chassis has nothing to do with the torque twist, that is power and suspension, with a loose suspension crawler, well get used to it. Yea the pool is a bit of a killer for the rocky look, but when it's triple digits with 95% humidity the pool is the only thing in the yard I want to see. I wanted to use the stock links, and as much of the stock kit as possible, I like the challenge and it keeps it a CR01. But if I wanted to change the wheelbase I could by moving the springs and making new links. | ||

Well after I got back from vacation, I decided to do a little body work to relax. First thing, those ugly fake roll bars had to go. Now I know this will be a comp rig, but I figured since the body posts are setup for a SUV, it might as well be one. |

I'll get a pic tomorrow when I tear it down. Well I really had no plan for this other than to build it and drive it, but after a coat of primer I realized that this will have to be an old beater body, that means less putty work but more hand paint work. After the primer I sprayed 3 coats of white. |

Well I masked and sprayed what I had left of some Orange Mist, ran the can dry. Followed with 3 coats of clear and some detail paint, I'll Age the paint tomorrow. Oh and I put the windows in. |
