| Question for any CR-01 owners...
I am new to RC and I have owned an AX-10 scorpion for about 6 months and enjoy it very much. I notice that some crawlers are more focused on raw crawling performance while others emphasize scale looks and realism. The CR-01 looks awesome and I'm considering a purchase. So my question is; How does the CR-01 crawl as compared to the AX-10? Is it designed more for scale looks or for performance? I'm not trying to determine a winner, I just own an AX-10, so I'm using it as a point of comparison. Thanks. |

I have a couple axial's and a cr-01. Box stock they aren't too far off. The batteries mount on top of the chassis is a big downfall. Other options are available for the axial. The cr-01 you might be able to fit a lipo battery on the rear axle. But you still have the weight of the ladder frame sitting up high. That and to keep a normal look, the wheelbase is short to fit the Landcruiser body. As I see it, a very capable crawler with a fullsized body.

I even shortened my cr-01 wheelbase, looks so much better... now i can turn in my street in one attempt... ( i can also turn on a dime using the 4ws ) as for performance... if the terrain looks like a 1:1 scale could do it, easy peasy. if you want to climb straight up a wall or something else impossible, forget it. it's a better scaler than comp. but this isnt your average scaler either. grtz |

A good friend told me that, "its not the crawler that makes you a winner its the driver". The CR-01 is a great looking crawler. The axles are real performers and it looks like the suspension does its job well. Enough set up and practice you can be on the podiums with everyone else. |
