|  popping noise fwd. to reverse
going fwd stop then to reverse there is a popping noise....the same happens the other way

Check you gear mesh on your motor also check for missing teeth. If that is ok i would take the axles off and see if you can narrow it down to an axle or the transmission. check the drivelines to see if 1 is starting to come apart.
