Default CR-701 Scout

Bought this kit in Seattle back in July and recently had some time to get it goin. I still need to do some detailing on the body. Just waitin on a couple things from my LHS.

Tamiya CR-01
Pro-Line Scout Body
HPI Geolanders
Tekin Rebel II
Futaba FASST

I used Krylon Fusion to paint the stock wheels white. I also used Fusion paint on the body, the color is supposed to be pumpkin orange. To me it looks like someone sh!t all over the pumpkin first. I do have a Pro-Line Bushwacker coming in the mail with a fresh paint-job By MikeyMike1969, so the scout may just be a basher body. I found what looks like a canoe in a woodpile at a friends cabin this summer, just sanded it down and added some stain I had layin around. Anyway onto the pics...

Great looking truck! The body looks great on there, fits the scale of the truck well.

It's not the geo's that are too wide, it's the axles:-( I have some 1.9 Stompers on RC4WD White Wagon Wheels, but I think the 2.2s keep it grounded better, doesn't roll as easy.

I want to keep as close to stock as possible, (with the exception of the body) I am keeping the stock body to do a scale 1.9 build with TLT axles.

Well looks like this may become a FJ40 instead of a Scout

MikeyMike1969 just posted pics of a Bushwacker he painted for me and I must say it looks pretty BADA$$

thanks for the great service Mikey when it comes to paint, I think I've eaten a few too many chips My Scout didn't turn out too bad, that krylon paint has come off in a couple spots though. I definitely would like to take advantage of your skills again in the future, I really dig the way you did C0astie31's lid.

no what im saying theyre not scale in proportion. theyre like 35x20" tires... a set of narrowed dirt hawgs would look much better.

I know the Geo's aren't to scale but they are a good tire, I could use a tire thats a bit taller and a little less wide. I will have to try and narrow some in the future. thanks for the advice

I wanted to run the stock tires but there just wasn't enough clearance with the Scout body

The second pics are just of a Bushwacker I had painted by MikeyMike1969. I haven't received it in the mail yet so I am not 100% sure I am going to use it on my CR-01. I have a K2-5 sitting around with some awesome TLT axles I got from Nova's Ark, so I might just use start a whole new build with that setup and the Bushwacker.

thanks for the compliment though

I purchased some rock rails and a badass front bumper from keiseng79. Just happened to be browsing the for sale section at the right time.

They're coming all the way from Malaysia so it'll be awhile before they get installed on my rig

That's funny sh!t

It may be worth your while to look for them in yesterdays for sale section. I know I'm getting the second set because the originals had already sold. He may be open to take more orders. look for keiseng79

Yeah, I emailed the guy as soon as I saw you mention his ID yesterday, and he replied straight away. Really nice guy. Said he is making some more, and I am down for a set. Yay.

Got my set in the post this week. They're a different design, and I hate to say it, but I like mine even more than yours. He really does nice work.

I want to wait until my rebuild is finished, but then you will see pictures.
