Default CR-01 K5 mudder

Picked this one up as a roller from a member here, Im building this one with goal of doing a tractor tire type mudder, right now I just stuffed a VXL system in it for a little monster truck fun....but it'll soon be a water proof LRP and 35T.

Plans are.....

Winch
Alum bumpers
Alum sub frame, I gotta admit, the plastic junk on this truck is kinda fugly
Narrowed rims and narrowed mashers
Lowered body!

I've got some narrowed mashers, for it, just need to pick up some wheels and narrow them down to a little less then 1" total....Anyone got a wheel suggestion? Need something with VERY little offset to get the axle/track width correct

Nre shock set up

A few other tire options.......ive had all these for some time now, but this is my only 2.2 truck......

The truck does have bearings........for some reason the drivetrain feels VERY tite....i know my axial rolls and is smooth as a dream. When you let off the gas with this one the truck basically stops instantly. I really didnt want to start pulling it apart just yet, any suggestions?

Nice k5 as far as coming to a stop. The more i ran mine the more it loosened up everything was tight i gues the gears just need to break them selfs in after about 10 packs it was a lot better.

could it possibly be the esc setting for the brakes? I realise you are talking about just driveline freeplay but it's just a thought? When you let off the gas does it pull to one side or the other? That would day basically a bad bearing.

That's a cool suspension set up with the springs off of the shocks! I haven't seen that set up on an rc truck before. Do you have any problems with the springs popping out when 1 wheel goes into a "pot hole"? Just curious being an ex car mechanic!

Thats the "normal" way the springs are on a cr01,theyre clamped in each end with spring holders ,they dont come out!.

Ya ive got that motor esc combo in 2 other trucks and it works great!

Actually one of the escs acts up everynow any then, when i go to turn the truck on i have to keep switching the direction the Channel. Kinda goofy, but other then that the take water and keep on beggin for more!
