Default New scale chassis for CR-01

Thought I post this up here in case no one has seen it yet.

Really makes me want to buy a CR01 just for this chassis.

They are. Here is a pic of it with 2.2s.

And with a body and 1.9s

It's a nice looking chassis but I'd rather see it anodized in black. Where does the battery mount?

Looks nice til you see it with the Hilux body.Maybe the bed hits the shock mounts so it needs to sit so high.I would get one if the body fitted lower!

A Proline Chevy body should fit ok i think.
Shame the battery is at the back.
The more i look at it the more i want one...and the more things i find that i want to change

They beat me to it. I really like my CR-01 and the planetary gear transmission, but there aren't a whole lot of rocks to crawl here. I have been planning to make mine more of a scale trail runner with less emphasis on articulation.

I have been slowly designing a scale chassis similar to this one, and I really like what they've done except for the battery placement. I like to mount the body as low as possible, so if I want to make a scale interior with the stock CR-01, I have to put the body up much higher than I would like. This definitely gives me some great ideas.

I can certainly vouch for JunFac's stuff being well finished, but I have the same reservations about the battery being situated at the back.

Has anybody got one of these yet? How would it work if the chassis was reversed? The battery plate would be back at the front. You'd lose some of the scale look, but the weight distribution might work better.

What do you guys think?

Looks to me like a small 2 cell li-po will fit perfectly on the front chassis cross brace.

I think with very little effort you could make a battery tray for the front (like Mike did with his Budget Bronco) and use the back tray for electronics?

I know I'll have one sometime in the future!

Awesome looking chassis! I actually think it looks much better with the 2.2s. The 1.9s look like the guy spent all his money on the lift and couldn't afford new wheels and tires.

Well, I've ordered one, just to see what it's like. I was considering turning my CR-01 into more of a trail rig, so we'll see if this is worth it.

If not, prepare to see one of these in the classifieds section in a few weeks

I've had my Lizard chassis for a couple of weeks now, but as yet it is not installed on my CR-01. There is currently a problem with it that I need to work out.

The chassis is a little wider than a standard CR-01 ladder frame chassis. In particular, it doesn't narrow at each end to accommodate the suspension bits. The solution offered by Junfac is to include with the kit four axle extenders, setting the wheels an inch or so wider either side of the axle. At the back these aren't really necessary, but at the front, without them the steering jams the wheels into the shock absorbers.

However, if you use the extenders, the wheels are set apart very wide, giving a less scale overall appearance, which seems to defeat the purpose of this as a scale chassis.

I really want to solve this problem, as the chassis is an absolutely PERFECT fit for a Pro-Line Blazer body - trust me, I have one waiting to go on it.
