Brushless systems for the CR-01??

I'm looking for suggestions for a reliable brushless motor system for the CR-01? Some of the Novak systems look pretty sweet, but they do get a bit pricey.

Keep in mind brushless will always cost more than a regular setup

Goats are good. I'm sufficiently happy with them that when I killed one in the sea, I bought another.

Have a look on eBay. I got my second one from a guy on there, and it was half the new price.

I've seen the Novaks around, and there appear to be quite a few people using them. Can you give me a little schooling on the difference between the Goat 18.5T motor, and some of the 35T-55T's? I've read the more turns the motor has the more precise the movement/control, as well as more torque and less draw. But, I may build a scale crawler, and knowing me won't be trying to get up vertical climbs on a regular basis, so some speed would still be nice to hold onto. So, I can only assume that the lower turn motor would be a better motor for a scale crawler?

You will not be dissapointed with the Goat system, the 18.5t is a brushless sensored inrunner motor , and it has enough torque and a lot of wheelspeed for pulling wheelies and ultra low control/smoothness for crawling, i have three of these systems and one is my cr-01 and i love it.

Well its certainly an easy enough system to get, so thanx for your input. I'm still trying to decide some of the other components for the build, and it looks like I'm now onto the transmission!

bought mine 2 weeks ago so they are for sale
bought it in my hobby shop (holland)
tought the regular price is something around 215€
with shipping in EU.

Can you send us a link to the storefor the LRP? I've searched all over and can't find it. Makes me wonder if its not yet available in the US?

As far as the Goat system goes is there also a good brushed motor they make that's compatible, and can help keep the cost down? Seems there's so many motors around that it get confusing quickly, adn there's so many cheap brushed motors it makes me wonder if its worth bothering with brushless when I can get 2-4 brushed for the same price????

After looking at prices for brushless vs prices for brushed it seem far more economical to go brushed. You can get 3+ motors for the price of 1 brushless! I could blow them up all day! LOL

So, I've heard the Tekin FXR is great, and found a combo for $120 at RCPlanet. I've also heard the Integy motors are good, but I'm having trouble deciding which would be best. Also, I saw a motor form something like Low Buck that was like $20, but some of the Integy motors were even less.

Suggestions????

got a sidewinder and i'm about to buy a revolver or a crawlmaster. Heard good reviews on the speed passion inspire combo, but u can find the same stuff on the bay as ezrun 32t combos.

No doubt their cheap, but can you tell us anything about the company that makes them? Are they going to provide customer support, replacement parts, assistance with set up issues, etc>???

Hobbywing is an oem for many of the so called brand names. I have this system in my ax10. Quality is top notch. Smooth startup, plenty power, small size esc.
The included setup card makes changes easy. Forget the brand names setup with "press long short long wait for 3 sec - 3 blinks press 2 times and so on".

So, since we're having this conversation about crawlers and brushless systems, here's a couple more points to ponder:

Do the brushless motors last longer? It seems many have ball bearings, less drag without the brushes, and appear to come with a far better sealed case than brushed motors, so I'm thinking from a mechanical standpoint there are far better choice for a vehicle that's going to see some adverse conditions???

What's the true difference when using a more powerful (LiPo powered), lower turn brushless motor when it comes to over all vehicle speed, and power transmitted to the wheels? I assume with minor gearing changes we're going from a true crawler to a backyard basher?

From what I've seen of the CR-01 tranny it looks like gearing alterations are only possible on the pinion, correct? I have seen upgraded aluminum and steel gears, but nothing much in the way of gearing changes.
