Unless you modify some tlt ones or something like that, I don't think you will see them in a long time. If ever. Perhaps company's like 3 racing might produce a set, but company's like MIP will never produce them unless someone paid them to do it, like TTR did for the clod cvds. You would also have to redesign the knuckle to get any more steer then stock. The knuckles are what limit the steer, not the dogbones.

Just my opinion

The dog bone setup is the limiting factor not the knuckles.

In a crawler, the CVD would have to be really strong to be able to put up with the torque from the motor and the twist of the locked diff. That means either they have to be much beefier which could restrict the steering lock again or made of something really strong like titanium and who knows how much that can cost.

I'll admit that I didn't know what CVDs were. I had to go to the MIP website to find out.

Having done so, I'm not sure I understand what the big deal is about. Based on the diagrams on MIP, they don't look a lot different to the shafts JunFac have been selling for 8 months:

I feel like I am missing the point somewhere.

Incidentally, of all the shafts I have tried on my CR-01 - Stock, 3 Racing, Hot Racing, RC4WD, etc - I have found the JunFac ones to be the best in most respects.

I think they are talking about axle CVD not driveshaft. Hence the talk about turning radius and such.

Those Junfac driveshaft do look tasty though

They really are nice. Like I said, they definitely seem to be the best ones I've tried so far. Just wish I'd got to them before spending money on the others!

That was a suggestion why nobody makes them. And why I don't think they'll be available any time soon.

But people seem to be talking about two different things in this thread.

Universal (CVD) propeller shafts are already available and have been for a while. A quick search on the tamiya website would have helped you more than a question here.

As for universal half shafts (american) or driveshafts (the rest of the world) see my answers.

You need to be more specific if you want specific answers.

Cheers

If I wanted prop shafts I would have said so, I already have cv prop shafts , I want cvds or axle cv's , and I could careless what it would take to get some modded to fit , if I wanted to know what it would take to mod some to fit I would have asked that,

No one makes any axle CVD`s for the CR-01 its plain and simple.

To increase the turning capabilities of the CR, you need alloy Hubs and alloy axle C`s. With a little bit of trimming you will get far better steering lock, the standard drive shafts are not the limiting factor, its the stock plastics that let everything down...

Exactly right. I did that with my cr01 works a charm. I might have to go to alloy knuckles though as it seems to make the plastic ones flex a little.

I cut the 'back' arm and shaved the front arm a bit. Definitely got better steering, but my first fall, it snapped.

Bought some aluminum ones and did the shaving, so far so good. No breakes yet.

Per the ebay invoice I got it said Hot Racing. I have included the link to this seller's ebay store. I got the c-hub pair and the sterring knuckle pair for $20 for both pairs (he used to standard bidding, but now it looks like he only does buy it now.) Besides, I would not recommend this seller as he took 3 weeks to ship these out to me.
