| Tamiya Jeep Wrangler body
I'm looking to pick up another Cr01 and the Jeep Wrangler body looks good to me. Are any of you running the Tamiya Wrangler hard body, how's the detail on this body? Thanks

As the owner of a real Jeep wrangler as well as the CR01 wrangler I can tell you that the detail is pretty good. The biggest issue I had with the detail were the mold lines in the roof, it took a little sanding and filling but not much. Just be aware that the hardbody will take a beating which is why mine sits on my shelf and I crawl with a lexan rubicon body on it. You can opt for the hard spare cover or a high lift jack on the back. Here's a picture of mine, please excuse the poor quality it was a quick snap so you could see what it looks like. Gunngee, thanks for the reply and the time you took to take the photo. The photo is fine by the way. You're right about the resin bodies taking a beating but I think it gives them the real world look. My TF2 hard body looks pretty good with a few scratches. I'm going to go ahead and buy this kit after seeing your photo. Thanks for the help.

They are great looking, but man, they are heavy perched way up top of a CR01 chassis. I run a PL jeep body on mine and it's a bit lighter, and since it's a bit bigger it fits better too. Doesn't look nearly as detailed though.

LOL I'm sorry but photography is another hobby of mine and I couldn't stand to see that crappy picture. This is what it REALLY looks like. This is also only what I run around the house like. Normally I'm running the beat up lexan body and chisel 2.3's on pro-line wheels. |

Thanks. I kinda invented it. There's 2 coats of flat black primer, 3 coats of silver metal flake, 3 coats of transparent red and 3 coats of clear coat with pearl. Inside (out of the sun) it's like a candy apple red but in the sun at the right angle it looks kinda like a metallic burnt orange.

I will second the words of OSRC, great looking color. I'm not seeing any holes in the body, how are you mounting it?

Well the nice thing about the Wrangler body is the posts are actually in the body instead of the frame. I never even bother with the clips to hold it in place because it's so secure.

Pro-line 2 door, fits like a charm. Wb is quite a bit longer than the tamiya body so everything lines up well.

I've been wanting the proline 4 door body for a little while now so the wife said she would get it for me for my birthday. We live in Abbotsford bc which is just north of the border. I found a local shop that would order it in but it would take 3 days. Yesterday we decided to go down to Burlington and Bellingham. There were a few hobby stores I wanted to check out and some crafting stores the wife wanted to check out. We went into Performance hobbies in Burlington and found the jeep body I wanted she bought it and we shopped around and came home. I decided to take the body out and just sit it on my chassis to see how the wheel wells lined up and guess what? It was a 2 door !!! Lucky for me the wife said I could keep it as a spare and she would order the 4 door for me on monday.

OSRC, just out of curiosity, how did you attach your bumpers?

You're making out well, and you have an understanding wife. Me too, the new cr01 is going to be my birthday present later this month. I was going to buy it but the wife said she would. Thanks OSRC for the two door info. Or if you prefer tudor, I guess that is more correct as per the Model A Ford guys are concerned. |

Cool, I'll probably do away with the front bumper as well. With the front bush bar does your tire rub when it's totaly stuffed if you want to steer? I had to lop off the little pieces that stick out so now all I have is the center section.

Ah, the brush guard - yes, I trimmed mine down. Both the stock and Integy one cause they rubbed. Can see the lower bars were sliced off. |

One more quick question for ya. When you painted yours did you make the roof like a satin finish? or did you leave it glossy? If you made it satin how did you do it?

Painted it on the exterior of the body ilo the inside. Just use an exacto to trim away the protective film - remove carefully and spray away! Can really see the difference here |
