First time builder long time fan Heaps of fun to build. Diffs are locked Zip tied the cantys Trying to get it more scale. Its got to get lower and the wheel base isn't right. Why dont Tamiya make their bodys fit their wheel bases? Stupid. Keen on this behind the axel steering thing but cant figure it out? Also going to make a canopy for the back. Very much a work in progress and a BIG learning experience.... That's the Tamiya kit ? And the wheel base isn't right ? Give us a side shot if you can. Also wonder how long those mirrors will last. Do you have any compare chassis, I mean have you built any others, and how did this one go together....thought about picking one up Nice crawl spot...rig looks good out there |

I'll get a side shot up tonight. I love the CR-01 and the build was heaps of fun. I have never done anything like this but like to think that I'm practically minded and it went together really well. The instruction manual was really easy to understand also. If I could do it all over again I'm still undecided if I'd have brought the Tamiya or the Axial scx kit. Maybe the Axial as they seem to have a much more scale looking chassis. Maybe I'll buy one of them too down the line.

Very nice Mog - and the scenery looks fantastic! The WB doesn't quite line up as Tamiya mixes and matches parts across several platforms. The same bodies on the CC01 are used on the CR01, which are 2 totally different chassis. Tamiya has always been a bit quirky..though their design and engineering team is top notch (I've built well over 100+ Tamiya kits, and I've had to hand fit exactly 1 part) but the style team...think they are into the saki a bit too much. It's tough to get the stance quite right on those for a more scale appearance. The axles are wide in relation to the body and look funky imo no matter the height. What issue are you having with the BTA steering? There's a great write up here somewhere. Actually it's not too hard, just a bit of trimming on the spring perches is needed to make it all work. |

Ive just found the thread on the BTA so ill give that a crack now. Quirky is a very good way of describing the CR-01 actually. And yeah those photos were taken on The molesworth station which is the biggest farm in New Zealand at 1,800km2. Beautiful place! |

Have tried the BTA. Still no luck. There just isn't any room for the tie rod. I've gone over and over the write up and there just isnt the room on my truck. I've also checked the manual and its been put together correctly. Im stumped. Are the cr-01s slightly different depending on which kit you buy? Has anyone else with a Mog do it?

How do you find the strength of the 645MG, did you ever use it with the stock 2.2s? Seems like a good cheap option that I've seen recommended for scaler/trail trucks, but the specs seem low compared to what a lot of guys run.

I'd recommend something more powerful. I'll be upgrading soon.

I've tried the BTA mod as well on my semi-stock truck, couldn't quite puzzle it out either. My heavily modded rig no longer has the spring perches, and the tie-rod bolted right on - no muss, no fuss. I'll have to go back and check it out. |

I don't even have the spring perches on mine and I couldn't figure out the BTA. The ONLY way I could make it work was to take the outer c-hubs and rotate them. Then the steering kinda sucks plus you still have to put a slight bend in the tie-rod.

I got it on my rig without the perches. Pics to come, it was cake on that one. Just moved the long tie-rod to the rear and added some 5mm spacers. It's tight, but it fits in there. Does seem to help the turning a bit. Had to add a minor bend in the rod to clear at full lock. As far as my other one which still runs the springs, the op in the BTA thread moved the perches back to the second set of holes and shaved underneath them for the tierod to pass through. Not going to work on my rig, that's where I mount the shocks and links. It could work, still thinking about it. Not sure if it is worth the effort though. I started messing with it, and next thing I know I cut a whole new chassis. |

This is where its at at the moment I love the cr-01, such a fun truck but to be honest if I were to do it again i'd go scx10 any day of the week.. The main reasons are the shit steering lock - even with Behind axle steering and they are hard to turn into a scale looking rig, unlike a scx10.. I still have a blast driving her though dont get me wrong |

If you search rc d90 on ebay you should be able to fit one. My one came out of china. Very happy with it. Although it is very heavy. Especially with the roof rack.
