Default thinkin on getting a cr01 kit

I've been doing the rc crawling thing for a bit now but have been sticking with the axial products. I have a couple of wraiths and am picking up an scx-10 this weekend. I was just wanting to see if some of y'all had some feedback on these. If they're good for scaling, are there a lot of mods and option parts, etc. I know i can search and find all these answers, but i prefer to have the reviews of the people who have had them for a bit. maybe if i get inspired by some reviews today ill just go ahead and order one from tower hobbies.

I have two, and enough left over parts to now make a third one. Been 1.9 rigs, 2.2, scalers, even a monster truck. I run one of them each weekend, and I just dismantled my wraith as I was bored with it if that tells you anything.

A) Nice to have something different than the horde of Axial rigs out on the trail.
B) They perform ok with basic some mods, and very good with more serious mods.
C) Very fun to build, and very easily modified

Beefs:
X) Chassis is an odd shape/length, make it more difficult to mount bumpers and what not for scale rigs. Doable, just harder than it needs to be.
Y) Entire rig is more complicated than it needs to be and way overbuilt. Must be some killer terrain in Japan. Easily rectified though.
Z) Lack of CVD's for axles... (although I have yet to break an axle part)

They have their quirks for sure, but I find it very rewarding taking a modest rig and making it perform well over just buying something out of the box that goes anywhere you point it (if that makes sense)

Love my CR01, can be made to perform quite well with minimal mods.
All I've really done to mine is-
Plenty of weight in the tyres and a set of short springs.
They're a bit top heavy so these two simple mods make a lot of difference to the centre of gravity.
They're a great scale rig.

It's sort of a cult thing. They're not for everyone. But I love mine & will never get rid of it. You can find a dedicated group here and all the mods within this section to do what you think needs to be done. Out of the box, I would simply recommend steel drive shafts. The plastic ones tend to twist for most people.
