I just used a simple drill and a vise. Took about 15 seconds per hole. I made them a bit smaller than the diameter of the Maxx set screw/pin so I wouldn't have to remove as much material off the shaft. I then shaved down the pin/set screw to fit the smaller hole.

I have never had one come loose and I've been running it since November of last year.

When I did mine I set the tire in a vice (since my diffs are locked) which held the pinion in place. Then set the drill bit in, and set the drill the opposite way you want to go, and work a little divit. Then put it in the right direction and drill the hole. Took me maybe 5 minutes per axle.
