| My Boyer TLT...
Back in November I had contacted John Boyer about making a scale TLT based rig. It finally arrived this past week. It was a long wait, but I think the "finished" product is fairly nice. It needs some refining. The frame alignment is somewhat to be desired, perhaps because it had to be powder coated twice, but nothing I can't work with. John is a great guy to deal with. This project is holding me over while my Hulkwerks frame is being powder coated (update on that thread soon). Here's the spec on the Boyer: -Custom JB frame and links -Locked TLT axles -CEN wheels, narrowed w/RCKJeep's 2.2 rings -mismatched tires (I'm working on that) -'pede tranny -Scale Hobbies TJ body (too fragile, but cool and scale) -maxx shocks (soon to be integy's) -random stuff as I have time to dedicate to my too many other projects... I'll be cutting the fenders a hair, but I really want to keep the scale look. The CG is actually quite low, as the setup runs a laydown tranny as it would appear in a stampede or rustler and a very low mounting point for the battery pack. Paint to be decided. It needs a name. |

I understand that he is swamped, and I really am not disappointed. I am incapable of doing this type of work. I lack the skills and the tools. It is more a matter of finding a way to make it work. I'm more concerned with being able to align the front and rear tracks. I'll have to space out the shocks on one side, but the truck will look great IMO when it is finished. And yes, the rear tires will have to go...

Alignment is still doable, just will take some tweaking of suspension link length. Once you've it it all assembled nobody will know except for you. |
