How can you make custom gackets for the tranny? I'm rebuilding one and would rather do that then track down originals.

They didnt come with Gaskets. You can take the tediouse time and actualy make a form fitting gasket but they came with a plastic coating sealer that you simple pack on between the trany halfs and around the seams

I know it sounds odd but thats how they came bone stock

I have a tranny that works good and everythign but it has that stuff all over the outside. Good thing is that it appears to have kept the tranny clean and scratch free but now i need to clean up the look. Any ideas on what might work well for a gasket? Or maybe just use permatex gasket maker?

thin rubber pads, cut them up and they work great for seals.

I run them gasket less with thicker oil like slick 50. You can buy gasket material at a auto parts store and cut your own.

I asked forrest about gaskets and a few other parts I still need but no reply back just yet. These trucks have too many parts. It all started with a good deal on bruiser axles that got me into his whole peiceing a truck together thing. When i'm done i'll have a bit more in it then if i just got one off ebay maybe. But at least mine i know works and is built right already.

In all honestly,I dont run any gaskets or oil on my runner Hilux/Bruiser hybrid...I just greased up the gears and had a ball..its been almost 3 months since I reassembled the trans without a hitch

yeah that my thinking too. Why not run conventional gear lube and be happy? Maybe the shifting stuff needs the oil?
