Default Let's introduce the "Red Bull"

Hi Guys. It's been a long since I posted here. Life is too busy sometimes :lol
Recently I put my hands on a Bulu 2 Chassis and after some work here's the result: "Red Bull"

I think it's the less homemade rig I have for now
I mean I built few parts than usual.

Let's give some spec:
Bulu 2 frame
TLT-1 axles with locked diffs
Stampede Tranny
Stampede driveshafts with steel yokes
Stock silver can (42:1 final ratio. Planned a lower one)
Indipendent 4ws (2 cirrus 80)
Novak Rooster
Associated 3 pieces beadlock rims
Custom 8mm lower links
Custom lightweight 6mm upper links
Custom servo/links mounts
Custom battery holder (trashed after some test. The front upper link will do the work)
Custom body mount and radio tray

An ugly naked pic

After some time I finally went to a place with some rocks.
I've been very impressed. This frame rocks!!!
First some posers.

And some action shots. All driven in and (mostly ) out

Opnions are as usual welcome

Wow... How did you get the Associated rims to work with the tamiya axles? Any pictures?

Looks good. Too bad you didn't find some rocks at one of those topless Italian beaches.

Ha ha, I concur. Then you could climb some real mountains.

Truck looks good. A very different look with your wheels/tires. I imagine RC parts aren't the cheapest or easiest to get a hold of over there.

Another great looking rig! I still need to get my hands on a Bulu chassis, they just work too good not to have one.

Thanks guys

The associated rims fit the stock axle's pin. You should remove the hex and that's all.
I milled a bit the center of the rims front side to make the nut fit better.
Do a little search, there is a thread somewhere here that explaina a way to narrow them a little with a ton of pics.

Rckjeep: To be honest these rocks are on one side of "one of those topless Italian beaches". I rollovered a couple of time cause I was looking away from my line

Plays with toys: I tried to climb real mountains but after some slaps I gave up ;)
BTW you are right RC parts are hard to find and they cost a lot.
Consider that a TLT kit is around 300 bux here. Luckily there's the net

Badger: I've been surprized how well this frame works. I currently have 90* artic. I've reduced the wheel travel with some fuel tubes on the shocks shafts.

The battery moves during artic.
I don't know how to explain in words. I'll shoot some pics to show you.

Man, I miss visiting Itally. I guess I need to take the wife over there sometime.

Nice pics, and your crawler looks great. Do you have a problem with the associated rims hitting the links though?

If you come near to milandrop me a line ;)
My lower links are almost parallel so I don't have any rubbing. Maybe with bigger tires I could have some, but for now nope

I wanna test the bull with bigger tires. I have some dagger wheels and tires I wanna check on the rocks (no nothing concerning ice ).
I know everyone say mashers, mashers, mashers.
Is impossible to buy them here while there are the tamiya tires.
So I decided to give them a chance.
I have to say the first time I mounted them on the rig I said "it's ugly". I thought I had narrowed the rims too much. I thought "well let's test these thing, but Prolly I'll return to the previous.

I didn't look at the Bull for a couple of day and when I look at it again I liked it a bit more.
Then I tested them on the rocks.
 There a ton of difference. The rig perform really better. I still prefer the Dirt Hawgs look, but the capability makes me think. ;) I'm ordering some Rock rings from Rckjeep anyway. They look great and will complete the rims.

What do you think?

Lunardaisy: here you are some pics of the "battery tray"

As you can see the pack moves during artic.
I just place the velcro strip toward the back to allow the pack movement.
If I move the velcro towards the front it inhibits the artic, but if the pack can move there's no problem.

I add a little piece of lexan where the pack lays.

Hope this can help. ;)
