| scale rig body?
well im looking to build a tlt axle based rig and am wanting to run a GM body on it, most likely an early 90's suburban (i only have found one company that makes this body in the body style im looking at and its hot bodies.) only problem is its only 6-1/8" wide (the stock tlt axles are 8-3/4) also is a 11" wheelbase ok or should i find a different body? what about doing a proline mgt sized (true 1/8 body) ford f-650 body? im wanting to figure out what width i can get the tlt axles to go to (stock there 8-3/4 but what is the skinniest they can get but still have full lock to lock steering. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJGR0&P=7 would that body look right as an offroader? would that body and some all-t's match up to the 2 trucks above? also does anyone know of some rims that would match the rims in the second picture? (im thinking stampede rims.) or even these (there discontinued though.) http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRD47&P=7 or wait, arnt nitro rear rims the same width of electric fronts? (stampede/rustler rims) if so i can still get those rims! (proline has re-released the agitators for nitro stampede/rustlers/jatos for some reason, but they discontinued the electric ones. :? ) Last edited by mike5721947; 07-17-2005 at 01:01 AM. |

the rears make the truck narrower, the front wheels have more offset. if you wanted it to be scale, all ts are probably too big.

well what tires or even body would match right? even if the tires are like scale 33" it should be fine i think. its a scale 44inch tire. there are these http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXEXA3&P=ML there 4.5 inches tall so its a scale 36inch tall tire. are there any other scale looking tires out there? well here is a older chevy truck (still same size relitivly to the newer trucks.) with 44 inch tall tires. Ok I happen to have the proline chevy silverado "off road concept" here for the stampede. It looks like a set of touring rims with those older tall allT tyres will get close to the look of those trucks. That body you posted is a bit wider so getting those wheels under the fenders might be spot on! The tyres accualy look kinda like that blue chevys tyres. Only draw back is if I remember correctly those tyres are hard as rocks. maybe with th etouregs and stuff tamiya released softer compounds? A 11in wheelbase looks like itll work maybe shorter. good luck and post progress pics! link to pic of tyres cant find them on thier own though, older ones like what I have seen at my lhs have raised lettering. either way a silver or crome set of those rims would mimic the trucks rims well too. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGA76&P=0 Last edited by Madkoifish; 07-19-2005 at 03:06 PM. |
