Default Kids tlt.. 56k DEATH

Howdy yall, I'm back with yet another chassis [] I'm ganna go ahead and post pics of my truck that I made for the crawler build off because most people wont take my ideas since I dont have any interesting ones and nobody else uses an assosiated tranny.

First off, this is my favorite chassis I've built, so I dont think I will build to many more (Im ganna get a pic of all the chassis I've built) It has a good amount of articulation, verrrry low cog. Just about everything is below the tires

The crawler isn't complete because I havn't finished the battery mount (dont no where) and the body mounts. Thats all I could think of off the top of my head though.

Dogbones:

Info on how I made my dogbones, if yall ever need to. Sorry for the poor quality pics of the dogbones, my camera doesn't like close ups.

As you can see, one of the dogbones has tubing in the middle, and it brazed togethter at the end of the tubing. I just drilled a hole on each side of the tubing, and cut my dogbones in half. I then filed down the amount that I needed to make it fit, and brazed it togetther.

The other dogbone was made from 1/8th solid rod, and a drill bit. I made the rod the lenght I needed it. I then cut two holes at the ends (horizontal) , and cut my drillbit in half. I made sure the drill bit wasn't to big or to small, and I brazed it togethter.

And onto the truck. (Body isn't mounted on)

Naked Pics:

About 85* surface [:P]

Lookin good Kid! What is this...like the 10th chassis you've tried?

When you get it done we'll have to go crawling sometime.

Looked like the bag you put behind a bike seat to carry tubes and tools.

Cool camera bag too!

I like the entire stance of your rig, it sits nice and low. Dog bones ain't too purty but if they work then that's what matters! The tranny looks tiny, like my losi tranny. Now I just wonder why everyone uses the traxxas ones. Oh yeah.... parts, eh.. oh well.

Do you get pretty bad Touque Twist?I use to have my shocks mounted just like that and i got it really bad. I like how you Did your shock mounts. How much did the associated tranny run you? Is pushed down right now or is that all the ground clearance you get? anyways, it inspired me a bit and looking forward to a video? Or action pics. Cya

Actaully, I get no torque twist at all.

I dont no how much the associated tranny cost. I got mine from my old t2 that I got a looooong time ago.

Thats all the ground clearance I get, yes. It is fine for where I run it. I havn't had any problems with the clearance. I'm going to put a shock tower thing on it later today, that way I can get more clearance if I need it.

I noticed you had this tranny lying down in an earlier chassis and in this one, you've stood it back up. Was the steep angle between the drive cups and the dogbones causing problems? Oh ya, I also know you've since moved on to a newer chassis, which will make use of sliders. Can't wait to see more of that one.

I'm building a custom tranny which will also be using diff cups and I have no access to pede sliders anyway, so I'm trying to learn from your experience with dogbones. Thanks.

This chassis is actaully my one of my older ones. My new one is a lay down tranny. Here is the link to my new one: Version 17... Kid's Tlt (56k, 9 pics) Half tube chassis

I got the sliders on there, but I kinda hacked it up... It was late at night and I'm now kinda disappointed with how I did it. I havn't worked on my crawler for a while since I've been desinging a basher that will be all custom made.

And with the dogbones, the only problem I ever had was that when the axled articulated, it would move closer to my tranny. Therefore it would bind and it couldnt flex anymore.
