Thank you for telling me that, but after my post, I looked in tower for those and went "oops... Maybe those bracers would be a good idea."

btw those plated chrome housings suck a##!!, they are either a different kind of plastic or the plating process makes them brittle but either way thay crack very easily :?

the only people i have seen with a huge issue with the axle's ears breaking off is the prp gang. they do a indoor carpet track with jumps. i broke one, once, but the truck got stepped on right otn eh knuckle area. the prp peices seem to help add to the durability of the axles case, but making sure the knuckle screw is set right has stopped my from breaking anymore. a user at one18th.com made new ears out of flat stock and washers for spacers. but he hasn't posted a long term run post. how they hold up, if he had to make changes or what not. |

Possible "free" quick fix to this is to expand the pressure areas caused by the screws and nuts. Use large washers to spread the tension on either side of the axle. this is basicly the same idea behind those plates you posted. Other than that you could fab up some braces out of fiberglass or alum. Beyond this only thing left is to have someone cad up cases and mill em on a CNC which proly would be in the range of a few grand. >_< If your planning on not crawling I have seen a kit that boxes in the axle ends. Someone here posted build up pics of thier axles and they had them on the axles. Comments were made about the loss of clearance due to the brackets though. Sorry I dont have the time to rummage through the forum to locate the post at this time. ~_~ Last edited by Madkoifish; 08-05-2005 at 08:22 PM. Reason: horrid typos |
